A guy got lost driving around the back woods of Tennessee and he saw a sign in front of a broken down house: Talking Dog for Sale. He stops and knocks. The owner appears and tells him the dog is in the backyard. The guy goes around back and sees a Beagle laying there.

“So...uh...do you talk?” he asks the dog.

“Sure do” the Beagle replies, sitting up.

After the guy recovers from the shock of hearing a dog speak, he says, “So what’s your story?”

The Beagle says, “Well, I discovered that I could talk when I was pretty young. I wanted to help the country, so I told the CIA and they had me sworn into the toughest branch of the armed services, the United States Marine Corps. Well, in no time at all they had me jetting from country to country, sitting in rooms with spies and world leaders because no one figured a dog would be eavesdropping. I was one of their most valuable spies for eight years but the jetting around the world really tired me out. Plus, I knew I wasn’t getting any younger so I decided to settle down. So I retired from government work and signed up for a job at the airport as undercover security, wandering near suspicious characters and listening in. I uncovered some incredible dealings and was awarded a bunch of medals. Then I got married, had a mess of puppies, and now I’m retired for good.”

The guy is amazed. He goes back in and asks the owner what he wants for the dog.

    “Five dollars,” the owner says.

“Five dollars!?! That dog is amazing! Why on earth are you selling him so cheap?”

The owner replies, “Because that dog is full of BS. He never did any of that stuff. He was in the National Guard.”

As one who retired from (22 years), and deployed with, the Army National Guard, that's pretty funny.
