February 19, 2019 OneBlade Genesis V2 Modified Gem PTFE Paladin Oleo Shiloh Shave Soap And Aftershave Back to work today after a long weekend that seemed entirely too short. Yesterday turned out to be another no shave day for me. So this morning, I decided to break out the Genesis V2 with a modified Gem blade and go to work. The Paladin gave a wonderful face massage while lathering. Three passes and touch ups ended in a perfect BBS shave. A splash of the matching aftershave and I am off for physical therapy. I hope everyone has a great Tuesday.
Your comment brings back a lot of memories, Fuzzy. Working in a chemical plant means you spend 11 months out of the year planning for a turnaround and then a month working it. It's nice to be located near the Gulf Coast where you have good weather most of the year. As you get further north, timing options are fewer unless you have an unplanned event...turnarounds in winter are the worst. I hope you like your new job, and I hope the turnaround is proceeding safely. You'll definitely be ready for some time off.
SOTD February 19, 2019 Alphabetical journey through soaps and creams Letter S Prep: Cold water and Stirling mentholated pre-shave soap Blade: Schick Razor: PAL Adjustable Brush: Artisan badger Soap: Soap Commander Drive Post: Witch hazel, Maggard's Tobacco and Leather aftershave Excellent shave with this setup. Backtracked in letter S to pick up two new Soap Commander scents. Today was Drive, a wonderful leather scent. Superb lather and easy shaving with the PAL Adjustable. No complaints or roadblocks. Smooth and comfortable. Have a great day!
Thanks, Charlie! We love it. Wilson went with us last year when I took the band. We had to stick with the itinerary and were somewhat constricted due to it being a school trip. He's a year older now and will love it even more. He loves the Toy Story movies and they just opened a Toy Story Land within Hollywood Studios. It'll be magic for him. We went in 2012 with my previous school's band, then again in 2014 and then last year. It's expensive but a lot of fun. Really looking forward to it.
Interesting shave, Joe, and congrats on the BBS. I use unrefined shea butter in my after shave routine. It's a fantastic skin conditioner. I never thought of using it for a shave. It would be slick if you applied enough...sort of like shaving with bacon grease.
February 19 SOTD: Razor: Gillette Fatboy Blade: Gillette Nacet Brush: PAA Atomic Rocket Lather: Stirling Cocoa Forest Aftershave: Stirling Bay Rum Additional Care: Stirling Unscented PSB After skipping a day, the Fatboy did a wonderful job of getting me to a DFS+. Two easy passes, a nice lather, and a wonderful scent to finish it up. I hope everyone has a great day!
Thanks Charlie. I use VDH shave butter to shave with my safeties without a problem. I thought that I would experiment using a straight, but as I noted, the result was not acceptable.
Thankfully @MaxG is safe from enabling here. Anyway, he'll probably never venture into all the ridiculous and unnecessary razor, brush, blade, soap, cream, and aftershave options available to him. Absolutely not. I already sense an uncanny inner strength and unwavering focus seen in so few of us here. And come on, why would a guy need anything other than the Crème de la Crème of traditional wetshaving - Williams and Clubman? I've already resisted telling Carl about the great Tabac shaving soap deals he can get on Amazon. You just can't beat the performance of this soap, and the shave sticks and pucks sell for such great prices. He just wouldn't hear of it, and I don't want to pester him with this utter nonsense.
Great shave and picture, Jim! When I first got my Atomic Rocket I was surprised by the size of it. It actually has become a favorite as far as my synthetic brushes. Sent from my SM-G965U using Tapatalk
