  2. Excellent picture, Joseph! You have made amazing progress on straights and especially on honing.

I have a puck of MWF, and I am very much considering to cure it in some pipe tobacco.
  3. Terrific picture, Brian! Have a good trip!

  7. Let me say this-I'm having fun wasting the Stoylin Spice AS&SS set.

  8. Thank you, this razor needs a little work done to it, but it will be completely worth the time to do a full restoration.

  9. You’re welcome Joseph.
  10. Love the needling. Please don't give Carl any ideas! There will be more things for us to choose from if he doesn't fall into any rabbit holes! Lol!
  11. Joe...he is probably on the edge of the hole right now looking in! :happy088:

  15. Gillette New Improved Weber Bulldog Handle
    Gillette Silver Blue (4)
    Barbasol Pacific Rush Canned Goo

Today was a quick one pass shave as I had to be out the door an hour earlier than normal. Close enough to pass for work and comfortable, albeit not the most pleasing shave.

    Enjoy your day.
  16. This is the classic case of a man's got to do, what a man's got to do.
  17. Things have been going well with the fatboy 30DC. My last couple shaves have been good shaves. Not much to report.

I have a question about skin stretching. I see some people are firm believers in it and some say they try to stretch as little as possible. Any insight on this?

  18. I'm a believer in skin stretching, making shaving faces and using my off hand to pull my skin taught and giving a flat surface to shave.

  19. Day 46.

Another three very nice passes with the Gravjura razor, and touched up with the single ring. The La Toja is down to where it no longer protrudes from the base. I guess I'll have to see if I can smash what's left into the bottom of a bowl.

  20. When I first used a DE razor, I never stretched my skin because I didn't know any other way. I shaved without skin stretching and I achieved decent shaves. Recently, I started straight shaving and indeed, realized that I needed to stretch my skin to prevent nicks and cuts as well as to get the best shave possible. Stretching the skin with a straight is a necessity, but not so with a safety. With my newly acquired technique, I applied it to DE shaving and found that I got better results than without skin stretching. So, I skin stretch every time I shave, regardless of the type of razor being used. Now, that's my take. For others, it depends on what they want in a shave. Do you want BBS on every shave? Are you in a hurry so a SAS (socially acceptable shave) will do? It depends on the shaver's unique situation or goal as to whether to use skin stretching to get BBS. Just remember, it's your face, your shave and your result that matters! It isn't a sin to just get a damn fine shave (DFS) instead of a baby butt smooth (BBS) shave.
