  1. If the shave set the tone for the day you have nothing to fear, Neal.
    Awesome shot Rick!
So bowls can be used for soap? I'm so confused:happy108:
Awesome shot Jim, how strong is the bay in that one?
Sounds like a busy weekend. I'm sure everything will go well. Awesome shave too!
Great photo Jim! Nothing to report but great shaves? Sounds good to me!
Nonsense Jim! Your photos make mine feel inadequate.
    Beautiful shot Clint!
Awesome shot Charlie, you'll be done with that soap in no time!
Awesome shot Danny! I've not shave with an Autostrop yet, but I'm bound to eventually with EDRIO

  14. Charlie......I have to agree with this one. Everyone has their own door and there is room for shaving gear in the bed! It is a win win situation. Picture us stepping out in the tuxedos, [IMG]

  15. Thanks Paul. I use my off-hand for part of my first WTG pass with no problems. Then I switch back over to my dominant hand for the rest of the shave. It just feels more natural to me. I need to do just a little more with my off-hand to completely smooth out one challenging spot on my chin. It's always the same small spot.

I once had a conventional straight razor, but I'm not interested in one right now. I had no problem shaving with it, but I found the edge to be uncomfortable. I really like to shave, but I'm not interested in blade edge maintenance or having to send my razors off to someone. Never say never, though. Maybe some day.

  16. Thank you for the kind words, Andrew!
To my nose the bay is the dominant scent and pretty strong.

  18. I opened the emergency door in the back once while the bus was moving. Had to sit in one of the front seats after that. I never really understood why. :)

I also crossed the street by getting off the bus and walking behind it rather than in front. It just seemed easier...to me. Driver didn't like that either. I guess she wasn't an efficient visionary like me.

I never got in trouble, though, for wrestling in the back with one of kids to prove who was Thor.

All true stories. Now you can see why I identify with Calvin and Hobbes...

  19. Thursday morning February 21 - Exceptions Day

Rockwell 6s on plate 3 / Rapira Swedish Supersteel (2)
JR #267 birdseye maple and Omega boar knot brush
    Hendrix Classics Barbershop soap
Alum and Hendrix Classics Barbershop balm test sample

I generally feel that the best DE razors out there are vintage Gillettes. I like most modern synthetic brushes I have tried and good quality badgers; most boar brushes I have used I thought could just as well have been left on the pig. I prefer tallow soaps over vegan by a wide margin. For aftershave care, I prefer splashes; most balms seem too cloying and greasy or heavy to use regularly.

So today, for my favourites, I used: modern non-Gillette DE razor, Omega 49 boar brush, vegan soap and a thick cream balm to finish... Great shave!
