Somehow your post got left out of my multiquote. Fantastic shave, Brian! That's the kind of report we like to see, John!
Brushes are certainly my thing. I have one that should arrive today or tomorrow. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
February 22, 2019 OneBlade Genesis V2 Modified Gem PTFE CH 2 Synthetic Moon Old School Fine Fresh Vetiver The Moon Old School soap arrived yesterday as a surprise from Doug and with my lack of patience it’s up for today’s shave. With such a name i was expecting another typical barbershop scent. No this is a very complex scent with vetiver over a vanilla base. The scent is much better than I can describe. The CH2 synthetic whipped up a mountain of rich slick lather. Three very quick passes and touch ups ended in a near perfect shave which is more than good enough. A splash of Fine Fresh Vetiver and I am ready for the day. Thanks again for the soap Doug. I hope everyone has a fantastic Friday. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Your technique sounds like it’s coming along great Joseph. The grind on that razor if I remember correctly is the same on both sides, So the geometry should be good depending on how much hone wear has been introduced to the spine.
I don’t ever intend to purchase more shaving toys either, but my will power is very weak for the most part.
SOTD February 22nd EDRIO #27 RazoRock Mamba Vi-John Super Platinum (2) Yaqi Barber Pole (24mm, Frigate Class) MWF Stirling Noir PSB Today was my first use of The Fat. I started with a dryish brush and began to load adding drops of water here and there until I had a nice thick paste going in the brush. I put the excess proto-lather into my bowl and began to work it. Without adding any additional water The Fat transformed into a frothy, airy, bubbly lather. I tried to work in a little more water but that was just making things worse. From there I started paining the lather on my face hoping to work out some of the air and even tried Joseph's @Primotenore method of massaging the lather into my face. This seemed to help and I ended up with a creamy, lightweight lather that had almost no density to it. First pass with the Mamba the lather was plenty slick but as I neared the end of the first pass the lather started drying out and I found it really difficult to even rinse it from the razor. I proceed to paint on another layer of lather for the second pass and added water until it was a semi-translucent layer. Again it was plenty slick, but was a less then satisfying experience. I kept the shave to two passes because I have some irritation around my nose and mouth from being sick. I finished with some Stirling Noir PSB for a nice bit of hydration and to hopefully sooth some of the irritation. Have a great weekend my friends! TGIF!!
Look at those two handsome young men! I'm really liking Logans haircut. Nice report on the Fat. I'm sure you'll get it dialed in quickly. Sent from my SM-G965U using Tapatalk
