Do You Still Own Your First Shaving Brush?

My first brush was the VDH Boar Brush also, it's still hanging in my brush rack.

 

my first wilkinson brush died after 10 years of service..didn't look after it very well so my fault, i have another ,plus many other brushes these days..

 

My first brush was a Crabtree & Evelyn Best Badger made by Edwin Jagger. I still have it and use it mostly while traveling. This thread inspired me to use it for my last two shaves and I still like it.

Yes I do. It's a silver tip badger (22mm, I think)

 

A very very wise member here Gary @GDCarrington told me when I first started, don't fall in love with your first brush. Gary was so right.

 

White handle Burma shave boar brush,it came in a gift set.Still have it.I still have the mug somewhere.The brush is now cracked along the lip and is about 20% shy of it's original bristle count.It still gets used now and again.

 

I'm on my second, it's only a few years old but shows every sign of lasting decades. My first brush, also a pure badger, smelled like wet dog and started dropping hairs after a couple of years.

 

I like your brush, you did an excellent job restoring it. The wooden handle on my original brush lost it's finish and got a pretty good sized split in it's side. It was replaced by a Semogue 1305 that I still have.

Thx Clayton, I was lucky that my brush handle lasted as well as it did. The vintage Ever-Ready brushes seem to be very good candidates for restoration. At least mine was. Since my dad passed away I have been rummaging around for remembrances of him as he really didn't have many possessions. Every time I use this brush I think of him.

 

My first brush was a Kent Infinity. Still have it, still hate it. Probably. I haven't touched it in 4 years.

You so often hear about how great "modern" synthetics are. Implied in that is that older synthetics were not so great. The Infinity is clearly an older synthetic.

 

My first brush died in action about 30 years ago. It fell apart as I lathered. I scrubbed hard and put it away wet too many times.

 

Yes but I have only been at it a little over two years... funny how it keeps breeding though even though it started out on its own... - it is a Edwin Jaeger best badger.
