I'd be glad to recommend Stephan's brand if you want to try a different one sometime. In fact, I'll be using it some next week.

It drove me to quit listening to it. But frankly, MOST media interviewers do it that way now. Sad.

Oh I thought I saw Wobegon in your post there. I did like Car Talk. Especially the way those guys weren't "cynical" in their help offerings.

Thanks Paul. However, I have Old Spice, Clubman, Aqua Velva and Stirling's Sandalwood, Piacenza and of course, the Bay Rum AS. Right now, I have enough aftershave to last me through next year. Lol!

I was a trained spokesperson for a few years at work. Most of our communications would have been in high concern/low trust situations. (That's entirely different from entertainment or story type interviews.) The interview questions (or extended periods of silence where they are fishing for you to blurt out something "good") actually didn't matter. We were trained to provide factual summaries in an honest and straightforward manner while using our key messages. And then stop talking. There's a skill in moving from a ridiculous question to answering with a key message, and it's fun to watch the interviewer's reaction when this happens. It involved much scenario preparation beforehand, practice interviews, keeping your cool, and repetition of key messages. I love watching "tough" news interviews. Many of the interviewees have mastered the game, but some haven't.

I don't miss these days at work...

a lot of talk show hosts are like that. ask a question and the cut the guy off while he answers with another question, drives me nuts ...shut up and let the guy answer..

That's why I said if I was asked a question by a talk show host, it'll be just "Yes" or "No", or a one sentence answer if it isn't a yes/no question. After all, it's the talk show host's show...let him talk about himself more than me answer his questions(lol).
