Boy oh boy, life has been hectic for the last couple of weeks. No way I can possibly keep up here, but it looks as if y'all are doing great! I have much more free time now, and can't wait to get back to seeing all the great Shaves!
That is the only way to run a FB, other than that it's akin to a 4 cylinder mustang..... I love the back drop to this picture.
February Focus Myrsol Don Carlos 1972~~Morris & Forndran Polo 2~~Detroit National Cut. Co. SR #31 I have complained to WCS, where I purchased this shave soap. My issue is that it is full of granules. They are like sand in the soap. I had this issue once before with Wickham's. The response I got from WCS was in effect, too bad. Literally, they said that this issue is not uncommon with English soaps and that the granules have no affect on the shave. B.S. If my shave aesthetics are lessened, because of these exfoliating granules, then my shave is MOS DEF EFFECTED!! It's really a shame, because the scent is very attractive. It is a lemony, perfumy (sic) scent. The slickness is AOK and the post shave is well above average. It's just these darn granules. Let's move on... My 31st straight razor shave was not bad at all. This is a professionally honed blade, BTW. Still only (!) a DFS on my neck area. The cheeks are BBS. I have heard tale that one's skin can show some firming up with consistent SR use. I think there maybe some truth to that. Up, down and sideways with the "Motown Mower" (just made that up, patent application submitted) Good results and after rinsing the grains off, what was left was smooth. (I guess my skin has been exfoliated as well) The AS is a close scent match and like all of Myrsol's aftershaves, they are of excellent quality. Now if they would only get their act together with their soaps. Anyone else out there experiencing something similar
Thank you very much. I don't usually bring out that back drop until Veterans Day, and/or Memorial Day. Sometimes I bring it out on 5 May. (5 May 1968 Ricky Lee Doye KIA)
Sounds like everyone is in good shape though Neal. At least there are no football games on today. So, you'll be able to indulge in a few beverages today and not have to worry about buying a shave Brush. I forgot, there is golf on today.
We are getting some freezing rain here today. It will turn into snow around 9 PM tonight. I am sick of snow.
Joseph, I am not trying to be a wiseacre, but I don't understand how these granules affected your SR shave. I could see if you were using a safety razor getting clogged, but I would think the straight would just push the granules aside without limiting the cutting of the whiskers. My question is what made that soap's performance different than the ones you used previously?
I don't like any form of precipitation, but I make the most of it, by straightening out my place, and doing other neat things that I enjoy.
It's a fair question, Joe. I alluded to my problem in my post. The granules affect the aesthetics of the shave. That means subjectively, I am annoyed by them. I also readily admitted that the results were good. I spend some serious cash on shave products, and if they don't meet my every expectation, then they are not long for my shave den. There are simply too many great products out there and 99.99% don't have this issue. Not to mention the flippant response from the retailer.
February 24, 2019 Gem Damaskeene OC Gem PTFE Elite Razor Desert Ironwood with Envy White SV Manna di Sicilia Soap And Aftershave We have sunshine today. Seriously we have had between 7-9 inches of rain this week so just seeing the sunshine is a big deal. The Desert Ironwood "Tres Amigos" brush made short work of whipping up a wonderful slick lather. The SV Manna di Sicilia soap has fantastic scent that I have trouble describing but I do know I like it. Three passes with the Damaskeene OC had the baby in sight. Reapply lather to the lower right neck and buff away. The little guy didn't escape this morning. A splash of the matching aftershave and I am smooth shaven and smelling good. My wife and I are off to visit my Mom and take her to lunch. I hope everyone has a great Sunday.
If you are experiencing this same issue, I would agree. Thank you Clint. I think we need to hear from other Myrsol cream users...
