Does anyone have any experience with Mr. Fine's aftershaves? They claim the formulations are "inspired" by such classics as Tom Ford's Grey Vetiver, Creed Aventus and Guerlain, all of which cost way more than I care to spend.
I've tried a couple of their scents. Platinum is a Creed Aventus clone. It's nice and pretty strong. Good staying power. American Blend is a take on YSL Rive Gauche. I would say Fine American Blend (the older formula) is my favorite aftershave. @clint64 uses Fine Fresh Vetiver. I think they're good quality but didn't care for the price hike to $20 a bottle a while back. The older formula seems better on scent and skin goodies. You can find some of the older bottles on BST boards.
Fine Fresh Vetiver: When you first apply this great aftershave the Vetiver's fresh scent is there and then a nice mild burning effect from the alcohol and then a cooling effect from the methanol while the whole time the unique souring scent(that is what comes to mind) is clinging to the skin.:001_wub: I bought this one from a youtube recommendation "Nick Shaves" who also uses it and he enjoys Vetiver. Cost:$20.00 Scent strength: 4/10 that is not strong but has some staying strength 3-5hrs but enjoyable for myself. Reactions: No complaints from folks around me and of course the wife, I think she likes this one. There is the first minute a mild alcohol stinging burn that some like and then a slightly cooling effect (Menthonal) that you do not get with most Aftershaves that is really unique IMO (Warm To Cool). Skin had no irritations and looking forward to using this great treat of a aftershave splash.
I've got new American Blend, Platinum and L'Orange Noir (Terre d'Hermes style). I like all three... just give them a try
Fine Vetiver is very close to Guerlain Vetiver but it lacks the projection and staying power of Guerlain. They scent is not even close to Aventus. Guerlain Vetiver is not expensive and a bottle will last a long time, it is a great value.
I thought Guerlain Vetiver was a spray cologne? I was looking for an AS splash. Perhaps I my search did not turn up the AS?
You are correct it is a spray cologne. I like the Fine AS, do not expect the scent to last long but they Vetiver and Barbershop do smell good and similar to the colognes they are modeled after.
Yup. I have one of the vetivers, I don't recall which one and santal absolute. Not bad, but I've been hooked on Mike's Natural. I plan on using either one for my next shave, now that you mention it. Sent from my Nokia 6.1 using Tapatalk
I'll also add this. I don't know what did it but something in Proraso Red doesn't agree with me. I was heartbroken because I really like sandalwood. Fines Sandalwood has a nice smell so you have no idea how happy I was I could use it. Sent from my Nokia 6.1 using Tapatalk
