  1. Congrats on your progress with the shavette, Charlie! I only did thirteen shaves with mine and I felt it made me a more aware de/se shaver.

  2. Thank you, Andrew! I was subconsciously under loading my brush after spending some time with the PAA CK6 which is pretty easy to overload. Back on track now.

  3. Congrats on the progress Charlie. It has been fun following your focus.
  4. Thank you Andrew. I am pretty happy about this brush. I tried to hook Randy up. He used a different email address than I did.

  9. Great photo and I love the brush. Is the metal part of the brush made from the ball of a ball valve?

Mitchell's Wool Fat... The struggle continues. This morning I bloomed the MWF quite well. Spent maybe 5 minutes building the lather on the puck. Took it to a face lather and slowly added water drip by drip. I had a wonderful creamy super hydrated lather. As I went through my first pass I noticed my lather was dissipating a bit and by the time I got to my mustache the lather was the consistency of Spackle and was very difficult to rinse from the razor. Re-lathered for pass two, added more water and agitated some more. As I shaved the left side of my face everything was great on the right side the lather was already starting to dry out and thicken up. In this state slickness leaves a lot to be desired. Also using a Gem industrial CS blade makes me a glutton for punishment. These blades are not meant for shaving and are less then comfortable. I was able to get a somewhat decent shave out of this one on its first outing by stropping it on chrome oxide then leather. On the second shave it degraded a bit so I though I would see if I could refresh the edge a bit by stropping it on leather. Didn't work, blade felt dull and tuggy. All in all not an enjoyable shave, the best part was finishing with the Stirling Bay Rum PSB. Oh well, here's to tomorrow :eatdrink047:. Have a great day my friends!

  14. Thanks. Not that I’m aware of. It’s a very nicely made handle.

  15. Thank you Andrew. I was getting tired of sitting around.
  16. I'm sorry to hear about the lather issues, Andrew. Odd because I have never had drying lather from Mitchell's. From Williams and Arko, yes. I figured out Arko pretty well but The Fat has always been stable for me. I always use the same boar brush so I've probably figured out some tricks with it, but if I ever use a different brush with The Fat I still get good lathers.

Wish I could offer you some tips, but it seems like you're doing everything you should for great lathers. Wonderful photo!

  19. Danny, I dare say that I would put it up against any vintage Gillette and it would hold its own.
  20. Is the refill puck just sitting in that container or did you grate it? I grated both pucks I've used. Not sure if that makes a difference (probably not) but I did just think about that.
