03/01/2019 Parker CHST – Chrome Handle Silver Tip Salsa Bowl / Timeless bowl scuttle Murphy & McNeil – Crann Bethadh CVS SE Blade Gem – MMOC Nivea Post Balm Pinuad Clubman Classic Just a quick Friday morning before work shave. The MMOC and Murphy & McNeil performed great. Nice shave with no weepers or nicks. First time using the Parker CHST. Finish up with a little Nivea and Clubman. I had to redo the picture due to a reflection in the handle of the Parker brush when I snapped the first picture. Glad I noticed it or y’all would have gave me some grief today. Y'all take care and have a great weekend!
Classy shave and photo, Danny! Reflections in brush handles make for some interesting comments. Just to let you know. Pro tip: I rest my camera phone on a toilet paper roll (@RyX approved maneuver for camera stability and sharp focus) and then step to the side before taking the photo. This usually avoids eye damaging reflections. I do this as a service to the general public.
Charlie...thanks for the advice. I am just glad I caught it or y'all would have had some fun today at my expense but it would have been well deserved.
I’ll take it. With som I’ll take it! With all of the things I’ve posted on here over the last few years, it could have been MUCH worse.
Apparently, after three years, I still haven't managed a piece of wit, wisdom, or whimsy worthy of one. :-(
March 1, 2019 Razor: Q-Shave Futur Clone (3) Blade: Dorco STD-301 (5) Brush: VdH Boar Soap: Stirling Naked and Smooth It's the start of a new month and the day of the week often devoted to adjustable razors, so we move from a Tech engraved with the image of the Starship Enterprise to a razor which looks like it could have been one of Dr. McCoy's medical instruments- a clone of the Futur. This particular one being a PIF from our Fearless Leader, @NCoxSTL. Even at setting 3 (midpoint in its range), I still find this to be a mild razor. All told, satisfying shave with no issues or irritation though perhaps not as close in some spots. I'm inclined to put that on the blade, however, which is probably slowly degrading.
By the way, John, I think the Starship Enterprise razor is cool yet geeky, and lends itself to so many potential CT possibilities...
Ouch! Sorry about your cut, Clint! However, you had a great shave otherwise and the cut will be gone within a few days. Great pic! Keep taking it easy!
March Focus ASW Old Virginia~~Simpson CH2 SiLVERTiP~~dubl duck Goldedge 53/64 SR #34 Picked this DD up on the "bay" for a decent price. It had a pretty good edge, but I sent it off to @gssixgun for a professional honing. The scales are slightly warped, so the blade wanted to scrape the scales when closing. Glen put a wicked edge on this baby and through some kind of magic, worked on the warpage of the scales. If I am not careful, the blade will still scrape the scales, but in general, it's much better. You can see that much of the gold wash has worn away on all but the tang. Maybe that's why I got a good deal. Nevertheless, it's a looker and a shaver to boot. Old Virginia is a sweetish tobacco soap. Not pipe tobacco, but rather tobacco leaf scented. (Not to be confused with the tobacco flower scent of a product such as Tabac) Today, I took the extra time to bowl lather, using my Aesop SS bowl. This bowl may look like an ordinary mixing bowl, but the geometry is just perfect. The iconoclastic Simpson Chubby 2 Band SiLVERTiP gets better and better with each use. Not one hair shed since I purchased it. Magic. Now to the dd shave. This is mos def my best looking razor, and yowsers, did it ever shave great. There's something dangerously exciting about taking an instrument, that could literally KILL you, and wielding it in such manner, that when finished, leaves your face as soft as a baby's behind. No wonder it's referred to as The Dark Side... Completed today's "walk on the wild side" with the ASW Old Virginia AS. I smell terrific.
Yes...the man whose Christmas shave is Stoylin's Frozen Tundra(or a reasonable facts-simile thereof).
It was still bleeding when I got to the office. The worst cut since I started shaving. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Thank you Perry. I absolutely love Friday. I hope you have a great day as well. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
