1. The angle is similar but the strokes are different for the smile. It makes shaving the neck easier.
  2. Thanks Tom! The seller on Ebay also had the white-scaled Herders, but I bought a Wolstenholm instead. I hesitated for days to decide if I wanted a Herder that when I pulled the trigger, all the white-scaled ones were gone. However, my black Herder is a beauty.
  3. Thanks Brian! Now that I have a total of 9 traditional straights, 4 that are vintage, it's hard to choose which razor is my favorite and also to shave for any particular day. I don't know how anyone with very large collections does it.

This morning’s shave was the test of my 1-stone hone edge on my Gold Dollar 208 test razor, honing details are in the honing thread. Soap was,MdC fougere lathered with a 3-band lotus-type brush, and a splash of Myrsol Agua Balsamica finished things up. Great shave, close, smooth, and comfortable. Now back to our regular programming....

    Cheers, Steve

  11. It was a Japanese Razor day today. Very nice 2 pass shave, with minor touch up, around the chin, left me BBS. I do like most Japanese razors. They usually use great steel in their blades.

Razor- Japanese "Old Cherry". Silver Steel blade. 1/2 Hollow
Brush- RazoRock 400, WD High Mountain Badger.
    Soap- Arko/Sandalwood Scented
Aftershave- Shulton Old Spice. Ships Decanter, Flying Cloud.
