March Focus Chatillon Lux Pure Lavender~~Paladin PK-47~~Boker Red-Injun No. 101 SR #34 Speaking on enabling, I have Keith to thank...I have a Shapton 16K on my watch list and my fingers are trembling to pull the trigger...must stay strong... For now, that's where it's staying, but, if and when I sell the rest of my DE's.. There's reason Lavender is so popular. The ethereal scent is extremely relaxing. It's probably the only scent my wife can tolerate emitting from our nebulizer. Rose... Jasmine... Patchouli... Tobacco Flower (think Tabac)... Lavender... The Chatillon Lux soap doesn't screw around with the scent. It's a straight-forward, in your face lavender. HOWEVER, there is a undertone of barnyard...Bison Tallow. Maybe it's not rendered in a fashion that completely eliminates the "fleur de bovine"... It's there...mos def. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Side note: I had a guy PM me regarding a couple of Super-Speeds I have on another BST forum. Joined THAT day. FIRST post ever. Asks me if I'll "do a deal?" Frustrating, to say the least. I "politely" told him I only do "deals" with established forum members. I don't think that I am the only one who is tired of people joining our fora simply to take advantage of our, what I would assuredly call, generosity. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Let's get back to the matter at hand... Why do they call it "The Dark Side" Straight Razor shaving is akin to: "Wearing a Cravat" "Holding the door for a lady" "Tipping one's hat" "Saying Please and Thank You" "Dressing for Dinner" "Drinking Port" I could go on and on, but I will spare you. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I was able to create one my best lathers lately. Check this out: Nice, right? The Red-Injun No. 101 mowed down the 24 hour growth with little effort, singing all the while. I still don't get a BBS on my neck left and right, just above the Adam's apple. Post-Shave was just to my liking. No dryness whatsoever. The CL AS was a really great finish to a very enjoyable shave.
Thanks, Clint! Looking forward to seeing your new creation and I'm happy to be the inspiration. Sent from my SM-T800 using Tapatalk
Thanks, Jim! I just got more soaps in yesterday, so a purchase of Beaudelaire will have to wait a little bit. I've seen Ruds review this soap, and he puts the Excalibur base at the very top. The scent intrigues me.
Joseph, thank you for always taking the time to write such interesting and entertaining posts. Great pictures as always.
Awesome report and photos, Joseph! That is some nice looking lather, indeed. I love seeing your journey into the Dark Side.
Ooh! I'm anxious to see what you got! The Excalibur is the slickest in my den. I don't recall where I read it but rumor is it's going to replace the Glissant base. Sent from my SM-T800 using Tapatalk
I have a Razorine on loan at the moment. Need to try it out soon. A little frightened. Stock photo: Takes DE blades. I have a few Personna blues left over from the past and few random DE blades. Could be an interesting shave.....
March 2 Good Morning Guys! Just finished my first shave of the month. As I mentioned previously, my theme is vintage straights. Each week I will be using one of my 4 vintage straights. Today, I decided to use the razor that I ended last month to start this month. It is my F. Herder Square Point. This was only my second shave with this razor and is my 43rd traditional straight razor shave. Ok, let me get on with my report. I lathered my face with Stirling Sandpiper via my Semogue OC Super Badger. WTG, ATG and XTG with very little touchup on neck area. This shave included a fool's pass. I achieved a super BBS shave just like I did the first time with this awesome razor! There wasn't any red anywhere and I was free of irritation. Finished with Aqua Velva Ice Blue. I have to say this is the first time that I have had consecutive shaves that were off the charts! I don't think I can improve on these shaves. Make it a great Saturday, fellas! Result: 99 = A+
So...... My wonderful wife walked by the screen, and said. "What is your ex wifes picture doing on the shaving group?" Oh my.... Sad but true. You can't make this stuff up. tp
Welcome to my world, gents. I use Lotus 1-2-3, and I'm weighing the pros and cons of upgrading to Symphony. It would be nice to finally replace my text editor with a real word processor. But I still long for my VisiCalc days when life was simple, and we all had our hair and sense of humor. Seriously, I use Chrome (I'm addicted to Google products) and would appreciate thoughts on why folks choose other browsers. Is it a matter of privacy, speed, resource utilization, or something else altogether? Some browsers cruise in the dark web, but I'm afraid of the dark. Others tout privacy/anonymity benefits. Big Brother is actually a pretty nice guy, except he borrows my tools and never returns them. On a side note, does anyone use VPN software? I have VPN Unlimited, and it seems to work well. There's just something cool in my imaginary world about having a Rio de Janeiro IP addess.
2 passes s/n, 2 passes n/s gets real good for me. Alum on the fingers, off hand overhead on cheek trying to get stretched out as far as I can. A side to center pass would get it, but I just can't quite get the razor in the right position to do so safely. Be well.
I have a spare ferrule for my B-400 by Tom handle. A '49 Omega knot would fit perfectly in it. They go in and out of stock at WCS for $9. https://www.westcoastshaving.com/products/omega-10049-professional-boar-shaving-brush-red-handle.
EC, it is all good! As long as you are happy with your shave, then that is all that matters. Have a blessed today!
