Welcome to the haul, please share all new shaving related acquisitions here, oh heck, please share interesting family friendly new finds as well. We LOVE pictures! Lots and lots of pictures. Thank you for making TSD the best dang shaving forum on the internet. Kerry
For those perhaps interested in such things, Dollar Tree has a new line of shave and beard stuff by Power Stick. All come in flashy yet understated 4.5 oz tubes. I picked up the a/s lotion, the shave gel and the beard balm (passed on the beard wash). The a/s is all I've tried; innocuous minty gum scent with an undertone of what seems like lanolin. Fairly neutral, will not knock your or anyone else's socks off, and disappears in about 20 minutes. Will try out the other two tomorrow. Oh, and they all say Made in New Jersey, so do consider giving them a shot.
I picked up this Made Rite from the bay. I think the knot will be useable. The razors came from one of the subscribers to my youtube channel. Not bad for 5 bucks a piece. I did not have a black tip (1951) or black handle (1973) superspeed. The micromatic is a no bumps model. Great haul all around.
I picked up some British Sterling Musk. A NOS set of aftershave and cologne. The aftershave is called "Light Musk" and the cologne is called "Imperial Musk". The set is in very good condition and the product is well preserved. In fact, there's nothing wrong with it but I'm not impressed. Is it a decent musk scent? Yes. The aftershave is indeed light and the cologne is the same scent in a stronger longer lasting form. If you want a musk scent, this is indeed musk. I probably shouldn't be disappointed but having never smelled it before I was hoping it might have a hint of British Sterling's distinctiveness. That's the problem with this; it's not distinctive. British Sterling is a distinctive scent and quite good for the price point so I thought their musk offering might be distinctive as well. Lest you think I would like to tell the makers how to create their product, allow me to give a couple examples. I have English Leather and I have English Leather lime. I have Old Spice and I have Old Spice lime. Both limes are certainly lime but both also retain and exude family traits that make each distinctive and recognizable. If you blindfold me and ask me to sniff English Leather lime I can tell it's in the English Leather family because it has family traits. Same thing for the Old Spice lime. It's lime but it's also Old Spice. That's what I was hoping I might find in British Sterling Musk. They also made a Bitter Lemon that I'd like to get my hands on sometime but that one seems to be a bit more elusive.
On the way in. I did not need another brush but West Coast has a good sale on the Tortoiseshell brushes right now. View attachment 188102 View attachment 188103
Yea I know...I have been working them out the past month. I just had a shave this afternoon with a Property of US Army Gillette head on a Durham Duplex handle with a Nacet blade and it was rough. Should have stuck with a Gem. Those Nacets just do not agree with me.
