Nicking strops is the best way to begin that collection! I really love my Dovo 91's. I have a pattern of getting 2 each of my favorite razors.
Ill be using Godrej lime and the fatip piccolo all month, might alternate between the malt n Myrtle and godrej though, but im using the same razor and same blade all month! Sent from my Redmi S2 using Tapatalk
The D01 2 band is all about the thickness and density of the bristles used in making the knot. I’ve read some describe it as face lathering with a velvet covered brick. I don’t get that but it’s in a league of its own in terms of backbone. If anything the Flat Top offsets some of the backbone. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Thanks! Started the Excalibur challenge last month, so ill be using one Gillette 7 o clock sharp edge blade for a minimum of 15 shaves! Sent from my Redmi S2 using Tapatalk
I wasn't picking on Randy at all. He makes ice cream. I can use a guy like him in my corner. Besides, his ice cream is real, unlike Cartel cookies. Sadly, I'm just wayyyyy too short on cash to attend the Christie's auction to pick up a guitar or two - otherwise I think it'd be great to have Randy pick me up and fly me there. We could discuss shaving while eating some ice cream - possibly some of those $30 sundaes from the Ritz. And, maybe, time permitting, I could teach him how to knit. I'd even wear one of those Fancypants hair nets if he brought extra.
Perfect! We haven’t met yet, Matthew what’s your shaving journey backstory? (I know this may sound like a weird question, but trust me, if you hang around the 30DC long enough, your definition for “weird” will change a bit...)
I've been debating whether or not to supply the photo evidence. It may be ethically questionable to share a photo of someone who has not given permission for said photo to be shared. On the other hand - this IS the 30DC. So, by edict of the Russian Blade Cartel Czar, and with the approval of Ivan, Igor, Yuri, Boris, Natalia and the rest of the minions - Let me introduce you to SWEATER GUY!
Not sure how far along you are, but on the principles of the 30DC, the end result is the development of your skill. I'd recommend in that case, blade life extension be avoided. For my 30 day I never pushed blades further than 3 days. Be well
Hadn’t heard of the soap, Joseph. Just checked out the vendor...did you see those $1500 brush/razor/stand sets?
March 3, 2019 Razor: Canadian Thick Cap OT Blade: Dorco STD-301 (6) Brush: VdH Boar Soap: Stirling Naked and Smooth Post: Alum, Listerine, WH A couple of weeks back, I picked up a small lot which included a Canadian OT head. It is in decent shape except for some plate loss on the face of the cap. Today's shave is my first one with that razor. (The handle is the last somewhat Nickel-plated one from a bunch I bought months ago.) Despite having two days of growth, an unknown razor, and a blade which was possibly passing its prime, the shave went very well. Great reduction with no issues, irritation, or noise from the Alum. In other words, pretty much what anyone could ask for. At some point, I need to try and compare shaves with a comparable US OT, though I'm not sure I'll see a lot of difference.
