4th day of the Blackhawk focus. Another good shave. Pulled out this soap to keep the RR/TFS/Italian Soap theme going. Got a very good lather. My opinion of these RR or TFS soaps in general is that this Tallow formula is head and shoulders above their vegetal or just lanolin offerings. Haven't tried the triple milled pucks, though. That isn't true of all brands for me (LOVE SV vegetal soaps), but it is for this one. I'll keep this razor going for awhile still, I think.
    Have a great day, all!

  6. Great shave and photo Danny. No need to use a blade you don’t like unless you have to.

  7. Fantastic shot Jason! I agree with you on the tallow versions of the soap Jason, they are quite a bit better from the vegan versions.
  8. March 5, 2019- Oh, Canada!

Razor: Canadian Post-War Tech (circa 1949)
    Blade: Voskhod (1)
    Brush: VdH Boar
    Soap: Stirling Naked And Smooth
    Post: Alum, Listerine, WH

A few days ago, I received a generous package from @9nein9 by way of thanks for sending him three pounds of SE razors. Included in this package was a mostly-Russian blade sampler and this post-War Canadian Tech:

This is my first post-War Canadian and comes at a good time as I had a couple on my eBay watch list. :) It's only been a few months since I got my first Canadian Gillette and I have mostly been using Indian and Vietnamese Korean blades for a while, so this is the first time that I've combined Canadian Brass and Russian Steel. (The Rocky and Bullwinkle fan in me thinks that there is a meme in there somewhere, but I haven't found it yet.)

And the shave? Could it be anything other than completely satisfying? Near-enough BBS, no issues, and no irritation. IMG_0419.jpg

  14. It definitely requires more fingers than normal to make that one work. I tried holding it between thumb and forefinger but that really doesn't give you the grip you need.
  15. Awesome razor, Terry! For some, those are the holy grail of Gillettes.
Great pic as always, Jim. What do you think of the Fern? At first I got it to pair with my SV Felce, and it got lost beside it to be honest. Paired it with the Valobra Fern and loved it.
Great start to the day with that unobtanium, Perry! Good luck with the Assessment today. We're thinking of Alice today as well.
Awesome photos, Keith. Looks like you and your brother are having a great trip. You live in such an amazing part of the world with a very complex history. Very cool. For once your shave photos have been outdone!
I'd trade you a bulk pack of Voskhods for those Nacets, Danny, but the shipping would probably be more than they are worth!
Your favourite soap/splash? Given your impressive den that is high praise indeed, Joseph. First time I've heard of blooming AFTER the lather was made...
Wow, does that razor ever look amazing in brass, Andrew!
Any feedback from yesterday afternoon yet?
Will Wilson be in your high school 'zone' or catchment with the area you want to move to Perry?
My son will be in my wife's Middle School Band class next year. I think he's actually looking forward to it (for awhile, anyway;))
Canadian Brass and Russian Steel? You, sir, have arrived.
I had two identical post war ball end Techs, John. One was Canadian and one was American. I ended up putting the American one up for the raffle a few years ago as they were identical to my eye. Do you find a difference? The pre-war Canadian is subtely different, imho.
  16. Thank you, Gentlemen.

  17. Thank you, Jason! Thankfully today my role is more of chaperone and encourager with the assessment. The middle school has a full time director. We work together very closely each day. I got over to her school first thing each morning to help teach, so it's a great vertical teaming relationship. So I get to go and just help out. My big day is a week from today when my two ensembles go.

There are three elementary schools that feed the high school where I work. We would like Wilson to go to one of those schools in particular, so we're looking at houses in that school's zone. There are two large neighborhoods that we're mainly focused on. He could go to school in this zone no matter where I lived since I work here, but they would put him at the least crowded elementary school, which may not be the one we want.
  18. Thank you, Jason!
I really like Reserve Fern and I'm glad I picked it up. Of the Reserve scents Fern and Spice will always be in my den.

  19. Thanks Jason! From what I understand they have two more interviews today and then then will decide who will come back for a second interview. Hopefully I will hear something this afternoon or tomorrow regarding a second interview.
  20. So far, so good. I was a little worried after the first shave, but a good soak took care of that.
