The stones are coming out Sunday and I will attempt to hone it, wish me luck. If I succeed it will show up early next week in this thread.
Manaslu M-500 6/8, these are kind of a copy of a thumb-notch CVH minus the lovely drip notch, and the toe stands proud on them. Great for trimming but watch that neck, lol. And Yasuki Silver Steel is hard to beat, they take a wonderful edge. One of these I bought from a friend in Texas a few years back, and then the other showed up on eBay from one of the Japanese sellers, so I was able to complete the pair of fairly uncommon razors as Mike noted. FYI, Manaslu was a house brand of Nichiri Barber Supply, as were King Pelican and Cape. The M-series is a shorter razor which I like very much, and shave-wise the M-500 handles very much like a Dovo Bismarck though better made and better steel. Soap was ADP lathered with a lotus-style Shavemac finest, and AdP balm finished off a fine shave. Cheers, Steve
Lavender Thursday: Lovely early morning shave with one of my 'old reliable' razors—this restored 7/8" Wostenholm has always been a favorite; custom Jayaruh brush, and Route 66 'Lavender Woods' soap with a Fine 'Lavender Pour Homme' splash to finish. Have a blessed day, gents!
Groria Rubberset 400-4 Taconic Pre and Aftershave Balm Barrister and Mann Adiago Shaving Soap Rapping up my Japanese straight razor theme and this little razor did a great job on a three day growth. Enjoy your evening gentlemen! Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk
That razor is cleaned up nicely, I have the same razor and it has never disappointed me. Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk
6/8 Sterling Pear Brrr Shoppe Maggard 22mm SHD knot Myrsol Balsamica An American made razor with a well made blade with no issues. It's seen little if any use. Nice shave this morning. The brush is going to my niece's boyfriend. Apparently your not in the family unless you get a brush from Uncle Steve. I did order another knot as this one has gel like tips. It's a nice knot, I just hope the one that's coming is the same. Have a good one.
I’ve been slowly working through my den to refresh those blades that have fallen out of favor. This one is a bit special as it is the straight I learned on. Wow, what a difference. Absolutely the best shave I have gotten from it. Smooth, smooth, smooth.
