Nein, it was just regular maintenance as the car has 299, 000 kms on it and she travels to university with it. Timing belt was toast and previous owner had no record of when last interval was .The car is more reliable than the furnace has been lol. I had a new GM truck in 2010 that was in the shop 5- 10 times a month. They all make lemons I guess.

March ...did I have a Focus?

Colonel Conk Lime soap - preshave
    RazoRock WTP Lime Burst soap
    Omega Pro 98 boar brush
    Surbachi bowl and cool water
Lutz Slant, Gillette Silver Blue blade
Pinaud Citrus Musk Eau de Cologne
SOTD 03082019.gif Inspired by discussions elsewhere here at TSD, I went green for this shave. Glycerine based Conk doesn't give voluminous lather without working it a bit. I loaded the soap with a dampened brush and went straight to my face. Made a somewhat pasty lather and left that on. Rinsed out the brush and built a much more passable RazoRock lather in the bowl. Painted over the first with the second and took my WTG using the aggressive side of the DE. Relathered wondering how much glycerine soap remained or if it was picked up in the wetter batch and brush. Two more passes with plenty of slippery either way. No errors from the extra touch up on corners and edges. A very close reduction that smelled great followed by more lime that lingers thanks to the musk base notes.
    Good Shaves Y'all!

Did you say something? I was busy enjoying my ice cream and thought I heard some mumbling. I’d blame it on the fact that you had cookies in your mouth, but since cartel cookies are not real, that couldn’t possibly be it. I guess you were just mumbling.

Also a point of clarification, Clint’s cookies are real. Not Cartel sanctioned, but real. And delicious. If Clint pulls off starting up his rival cartel I may join it. As long as we can deal in ice cream too.

    Good morning, guys!
This morning I retired my Herder and took out my Henckels Friodur. I decided to open the first two weeks of the month that I will use my big blades. I will be using the Henkel for week number 2 in my vintage focus. By the way, I just realized that it turns out that my vintages are all square points, therefore, just by happenstance my focus also includes square points. OK, let me get on with my report! First, I had breakfast and then started my shaving ritual so that I wouldn't have my prior shave's mishaps. I lathered with Stirling's Sandalwood using my Semogue badger. Two passes that included touchups, a few weepers, but ended with the baby in the house. Finished with Stirling's Sandalwood AS. It was a very enjoyable shave!

    Have a great Saturday guys! 20190309_072454.jpg 20190309_072454.jpg

Prep: Cold water and Stirling mentholated pre-shave soap
    Blade: GEM PTFE
    Razor: Superior Lather Catcher
    Brush: JR #60 synthetic
    Soap: Oleo New City
Post: Witch hazel, Oleo New City aftershave

I was inspired by @jluc to use Oleo New City this morning. What an outstanding scent! Raspberry and leather sounds strange but it works so well. This is a take on Tom Ford Tuscan Leather (I think) and it's quite nice. The Lather Catcher did an outstanding job and all worked well together. Nice shave.

It has been busy. 12 hour day yesterday with some tryouts for two visual squads yesterday in preparation for next year's marching band. I'll be at school this morning for a few hours to start the process of our drum major tryouts. Busy time of year.

    Have a great day!

I'm using the same set up today as yesterday; however, I omitted the scented aftershave products yesterday since we spent time with our sweet kids. I've never finished a bottle of aftershave, so I plan to plow through the remainder of this bottle of Clubman. I purchased it for the vintage vibe, but this is one I won't replace when it is gone.

I enjoy the C.O. Bigelow cream. It lathers easily, has a mild menthol kick, and it's another one of those great values in traditional wet shaving. I plan to finish up my current tube, and I have a couple more in reserve.

It has been fun looking back at all The Far Side cartoons this month. Gary Larson retired the strip in 1995. He has completed a few other projects, but he's generally kept a low public profile. With his incredible sense of humor, he'd fit right in here. I've stumbled onto some other interesting comic strips during my intense research, so I may continue my cartoon focus for a few more months. I love the way cartoonists present real life in a way that shows its inherent humor. Perspective makes all the difference, IMHO.

    Enjoy the weekend!

Great shave, Perry. The Oleo soap scent description (Raspberry and Leather) sounds very appealing.

I applaud your dedication to teaching. It's clear that you love your work, and I have no doubt that you make an incredible difference in the lives of your students.

Back in focus today. Two passes with plenty of touch up left me near BBS. The alum tickled just a tiny bit in a couple of spots.

Patrick, you have more mechanical knowledge in your little finger than I have in my entire body... You saved your daughter a $1000 or more on engine work. It's great to hear that she's getting such good service out of the VW. We try to keep our cars until the wheels fall off, so I love to hear stories about cars lasting forever.

Sorry about the furnace. Furnaces, plumbing fixtures, decks, and roofs are the four biggest headaches of home ownership.

Thanks Jim. How is the new project manager job going? I always loved working on projects over the routine of doing the same stuff day after day.
