Joseph another great SR shave in the books. Also, it is always good to keep some DE razors as a backup.
Well, it turned out to be not warm at all today, thus the Russian Leather was comfortable after all. Will repeat with it tomorrow(with the Rise foam).
thank you Terry..like many things in my life so far, if i can't readily find it , i try and build it..
Been quite busy this weekend. I've been able to keep up but only superficially. @jtface - welcome back! @BaylorGator - wonderful view from your deck. Really neat to see Air Force One fly over. Also jealous that your neighbor is an artisan liquor person (can't remember the exact title). Lucky you! @clint64 - Good luck with Maya's surgery tomorrow. We are all thinking and praying for her.
Thanks, Joe! I hope you're having a great weekend! We're having a beautiful day here today - 60 degrees and sunny.
I would have thought so too, Joe. Our shavette warrior, @Bama Samurai, has stated that blade quality matters less in a shavette vs. a DE. I'll let him comment on his findings. (A shavette does, indeed, hold the blade differently than a DE razor.) I don't have as much experience, but I am inclined to agree. I can't tell much difference between Lord and Rapira blades in my shavette, but the difference seems to be more noticeable in a DE. I consider neither of these blades to be crummy; however, the Rapira feels a bit smoother and sharper to me, especially in a DE. I was hoping to see what @NCoxSTL thought of using an admittedly crummy (my term, not his) DE blade in a shavette. I'm betting that it's actually a pretty good shave. Neal has tested more DE blades than all of us combined, so I put a lot of stock in his impressions. That's my story, and I'm stickin' to it.
March 10 Parker SRX Lord Super Stainless (2) 30 Day Crew LE figured maple handle w/APShaveCo Tuxedo knot C.O. Bigelow Alum, Thayers WH, USB, Pinaud Clubman & Aramis 58th focus shave I enjoyed an early morning two-pass shave with the Sierra Romeo X-ray before church. Everything just worked well together. As I get more experience with the Parker, I need fewer touch-ups on the more challenging spots around my mouth and chin. A shavette actually provides a fairly gentle shave when everything comes together. The Parker SRX could easily become a daily driver for me. We had great weather today (60 deg F and sunny), and temps are expected to push into the 70s later this week. My Bride and I had a nice lunch at Cheesecake Factory after church (no cheesecake though ), and we spent the afternoon with her dear Aunt. It was a nice day. I hope you all had a fantastic day!
March 9th SOTN Gillette NEW SC w Astra SP Omega Pro/Poculi handle SV Felce Aromatica SS & AS Thayers Shaved last night, but went skiing with my son this morning and didn’t have a chance to post. Switched up the razor, inspired by a few of you on here pulling out your SCs. Stayed with the Italian soap theme and using the intoxicating Felce Aromatica for a relaxing weekend shave works out well. I believe it was @clint64 who said he uses Mothers Mag and Aluminum polish. I saw some the other day in Canadian Tire (kind of a Canadian Walmart/Home Depot/Ace/Discount Tire rolled into one for those of you south of the 49th) and tried it for the first time on this NEW. Worked really well and this old beauty is gleaming. The shave was relaxing and pleasurable. I was just short of being completely smooth, but I get to try again tomorrow. Pulled this blade out of the razor when I cleaned it then put it back in, but it is tired and I will grab a new one tomorrow. Have a great evening, all!
