I have to admit this cheapy, which was my very first shave brush 3 years ago, still hold up well. I toss it into shaves where I just need something that randomly fits and gets the job done. All I own are synthetics (I just never liked the animal smell of the first badger and boar I tried, got help to re-knot them with synthetics) and this one, while not my favorite, has its uses. Amazingly, despite being a cheap Chinese made tosser brush, it has rarely shed a hair even when loading for extended time on hard soaps. I think I just got lucky that I didn't get a defective one as its construction doesn't seem impressive.

That's a nice Razor that you have there . What do you honestly think of it. How does to shave with that blade. I have some of those blades and I have that razor. I prefer Wilkinson Sword blades. I like my ATT razors but I prefer my Weber.

    jluc smelling pretty

I find the S1 to be a very smooth razor. I've been using it almost exclusively this month trying to improve my technique with it to up the efficiency. I find I need to work a little harder with it to get the same shave I get from some of my other razors.

I like the Astra SP blades. There are other blades I like more but the differences are subtle, nothing that really changes the end result of the shave.

I find them smoother from the off but not as long lasting.
    Of course, YMMV applies.

Definitely a Sandalwood Saturday. I love the scent of the Proraso Offering....and to my nose the Al Rehab Oudy is pretty close in matching the scent.
3 passes for a really excellent finish:)

    Saturday

Prep: Warm Shower-Stirling Scots Pine Sheep
Soap: Crowne & Crane Thuringian Forest
Razor: Vintage Gillette “Black Beauty” Super Adjustable
    Blade: Gillette Platinum (5)
Brush: Henri et Victoria High Mountain White-22mmx55mm
    Aftershave: Country Club Southern Oud

WTG-XTG-ATG (adjusted angles for my beard)

Crowne & Crane Thuringian Forest today. 20 seconds to load the Henri et Victoria High Mountain White brush. Easy, thick, slick, lather. Gillette Platinum still in the Gillette Black Beauty. Excellent smooth, close, shave. I finished with Country Club Southern Oud aftershave.

    D3115F87-7E92-452D-A944-E623F9746E9C.jpeg Saturday’s shave:

    Neutrogena Men Facial Wash
    Razorock Plissoft 26mm Monster
    Super Speed/Minora day 3
    Simply Bee SS
    Fino ASB
    Old Spice AS Splash
    Old Spice Cologne

Except for the scent of the Old Spice being subpar compared to the original Shulton version I have no complaints whatsoever about this shave because it was mega-BBS. The Simply Bee soap has a nice, mild honeycomb scent, it’s so easy to lather, and the skincare is great - it’s another diamond from South Africa. The Fino balm is also from there and it’s unscented, with such awesome soothing and moisturizing.

    Cold Water Rinse
Green Mountain Balsam Spice Shaving Soap
    The Brush B-3 by Tom
    J.R. Torey 5/8
    CWR
    Stetson AS

My prep was just a cold water rinse. The Green Mountain Balsam Spice Shaving Soap face lathered well with The Brush B-3 by Tom brush. It was my first shave with the GMBSSS, and it performed well. I am not a scent person, so I don't know what to say about it except that it was not a strong scent. I did two passes with the J.R. Torey 5/8 razor and ended up with a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse, I finished off with Stetson AS. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...
