Today's shave, a New long comb with Bic blade. Same result as the Otto Roth when paired with the Bic blade. I remember this being a better overall shave with this blade. Maybe my expectations were lower or fault memory either way The New DeLuxe thus far is best of the lot using a Bic blade. Next up the Ladas blade in this razor for tomorrow.

The Otto Roth is a New LC, just branded differently and with a thinner handle.

What is it for you, the handle and head combination or just the new deluxe head, that you like the most?

I've used the New Deluxe Belmont 3 - 4 times now, always with the handle/head combination. I haven't tried it with a different handle, I suppose I will at some point. So for now, to answer your question, it is the combination of the handle & head that provides the supremely smooth, efficient shave.

The NEW Deluxe is a great shaving head. I compare it favorably to the Short Comb, which I prefer over the Long Comb. The Deluxe come in 2 different variations, usually referred to as the 17mm and 15mm. I’ve not tried the 15, but won’t part with my 17’s. I’ll try and post the mass differences among the LC, SC, and 17mm Deluxe tonight. For the sake of balance, some prefer a heavier handle with a heavier head.

I sold a couple that I ended up with but here are some of the notes I made about the Black Tip SS. Most comes from Mr Razor's site.
Black Tip Super-Speed "W3" has an aluminum handle with nickel shoulder and should weigh 43g
Black Tip Super-Speed "W4" has a steel handle with nickel plated head and should weigh 46g
Black Tip Super-Speed “W4” has an aluminum handle and should weigh 39g

Black Tip Super-Speed "X1" has an aluminum handle and should weigh 39g
Black Tip Super-Speed "X2” has a steel handle with nickel plated head and should weigh 46g
Black Tip Super-Speed "X3" handle and base plate are steel made and should weigh 45g

Today's shave with a Ladas blade was pretty much the same as the Otto Roth when loaded with a Ladas. Both these razors for whatever reasons perform better with a less sharp blade. No irritation and only 1 small cut this time around. The new DeLuxe is still the best performer thus far with either blade, next up the New short comb and finally in the New style of base plates will be the Goodwill 160 and 175.

I plan to revisit this razor with some other blades like a voskhod and see how it performs.
