Today's shave was with an old Stubtail Wedge razor. 2 pass shave leaving me with a SAS. This one isn't as sharp as I would like, and might need a slight touch-up.

    Razor- W.Greaves & Sons.
    Brush- Omega 10098 Boar
    Soap- TOBS "Eton College".
    Aftershave- Osage Rub

One multidirectional pass it’s my aim. I do that but on the second pass. Very nice razor.

    Cold Water Rinse
Green Mountain Balsam Spice Shaving Soap
    T-400 Silvertip
    Classic Samurai
    Astra SP
    CWR
    Granddad's Blend AS

My prep was just a cold water rinse. The Green Mountain Balsam Spice Shaving Soap face lathered well with T-400 Silvertip brush. I did two passes with the Classic Samurai razor with an Astra SP half blade and ended up with a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse, I finished off with Granddad's Blend AS. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

13/16 Tanifuji BaBa Swedish Steel, a fine razor indeed. I wanted a really good razor to test the Feather HiShave Moist Gel. This is a brushless product, so no brush was used. The AS was Myrsol AB.

The Feather Gel is interesting stuff. Like most brushless products, it;s extremely slick and a bit of water on the face makes it even slicker. There’s no cushion at all so if you’re a DE shaver and like that padding, there ain’t none here. Works fine with a straight razor though. It’s clear, so it’s a bit difficult to see where you’ve shaved and where you haven’t, but this is not a big deal. The scent is generic and light. Probably the best thing about this product is the post-shave conditioning. If you’re using after shave products for skin conditioning, you probably can forego the AS, this stuff is really good in that capacity. I could see this being an excellent all-in-one product for travel at least if you decant some out of that huge 230g tube.

Alfredo sent me some Biotique Bio Palmyra Expert Shave Gel to try a while back, and the Feather is similar. The Biotique is far more expensive, a 50g tube about the same price as this half-pound tube of Feather. The Biotique makes enough white ‘suds’ that it’s easier to see where you’ve been. The scents are very similar but the Biotique is considerably stronger, I like the Feather’s milder scent better.

For traditional shaving, both of these are probably best used as a pre-shave product, and as a pre-shave, they excel. Use a little bit and lather over it. There’s also another downside for traditional shavers, the scent. If you like Floris, SMN, Dior etc shaving products because the fragrance is part of the experience, you’re out of luck unless you’re using it as a pre-shave.

    Cheers, Steve

Couldn’t let Keith’s Koraat be alone on the dance floor...
This one doesn’t have the beautiful grinding of that 14.2, but I enjoy a nice wedge every once in a while.

Thanks Keith. This one was tough to say no to when it popped up a few years back... oh wait, I didn’t say no. :)
His configurator is fun to play with. And I really appreciate how he has added the bellied hollow grind to his options. Just seems like a great artist in our world.

And very cool thumbnotch design on your latest example!

Another great modern artisan! That razor is so unique.
I saw a picture of one of his new scale designs that mixed bone with colored acrylic... looked very cool.
