With the Ladas blade good shave but not as close as the Bic. No cuts or irritation which seems to be the common thread through all this regardless of razor used. The New DeLuxe is still the best performer thus far with both blades but the short comb is right in the same ballpark and smoother overall with either blade than the New DeLuxe so I guess it is a matter of preference on the trade off here.

Next up is an American Goodwill 160 which is based on the New base plate.

I do have a few questions other than year. It opens and closes, but as you turn to open it the twist knob moves down then when you push the handle down to the knob it opens up. Is this normal? Well I found out it is not normal, but is a common problem with these. So I’m sending it into razor emporium for full revamp service in 24kt gold.

You are in for a treat sir!

Since starting my test drive of the New De Luxe last week, I've come to savor it's exceptionally smooth, efficient shaves.

It is a second gen or variant for those open comb Aristocrats, made between I think 36 - 38. Dropped knob as it is termed happens because the crimping in the handle no longer holds the knob in place when you loosen it up. It is easy to fix by recrimping the handle. He shouldn't charge you extra for the recrimp if he is disassembling the razor before plating. If he does fix it yourself first and save yourself some money. It takes all of 30 seconds to recrimp it with pliers and a stiff piece of wire like a coat hanger.

There is a post on page 5 here that shows how to identify the 3 Aristocrat variants.

Well done and a fine A’crat indeed. If the head profile looks like mine it’s a 1934-35. If it’s taller it’s a 36 or later. It looks to me like a 1936 A’crat Deluxe set

I think about the same profile as yours. I’ll post better pics when I get it back. Correct me if I’m wrong please but didn’t this style Acrats stop in 36?

The last offering of an OC A’crat would have been Christmas of 1939 in the form of the A’crat Deluxe set...unless someone else would like to chime in. Sorry but if you are taking about the head profile being like mine...yes mine was made between 1934-35ish...1936 they changed.
