Next up in the based on the New design is the American Goodwill 160 with a Bic blade. This thing when loaded symmetrically let alone asymmetrically for blade reveal/exposure is like shaving with a fillet knife. It is deceptively mild because it is very efficient but this one will cut you up good if you are not careful. So far it is no contest for closest shave with a Bic blade, this one jumped to the front of the line. Keep in mind different Goodwills shave differently and that includes where they were produced i.e. a British Goodwill is a completely different razor shave wise than any American Goodwill. Next shave is with the Ladas blade.

I love my double ring. It’s kinda beaten but it’s old and can still give a fantastic shave. You’ll find one!

CCCB1F6D-F648-4B5D-8D56-39F33EFF3A35.jpeg Back on the vintage Gillette trail with a focus on the Aristocrats. Today’s Gillette of choice was the venerable Aristocrat Junior, made in England and of a 1949-52 vintage. This razor would have been from either a No 51 or 53 set but as I didn’t get a case or box with it, I can’t say for sure. This one has a flat bottom and comes with a heft to it. Shaves incredibly well.

Soap of the day was Stirling Tuscany with the matching AS and what a wonderful scent. Just smells like late spring in...well...Tuscany. LOL. Great performance as usual.

Loaded up with an Astra Superior Stainless and worked through a wonderful three pass BBS shave. All around great start to another anticipated long week. Happy shaves all!

    Rating: 5 / 5

    Razor: Gillette Aristocrat Junior 1949-52
    Blade: Astra Superior Stainless
    Brush: Simpson Chubby 2
    Pre-Shave: Proraso White Lotion
    Lather: Stirling Tuscany
    Aftershave: Stirling Tuscany
    Additional Care:
    B.I.G. Co. Alum Block

    Razor: ABC 1909 Early Scroll(Silver) A877304
    Blade: Gillette Silver Blue
    Brush: Simpson Wee Scot
    Pre-Shave: Georgetown Pottery G12 Scuttle
    Lather: Stirling Deep Blue Sea
    Aftershave: Stirling Deep Blue Sea
    Additional Care:
    Chanel Bleu de Chanel EDP
Though it’s the only Bleu de Chanel complimentary scent I’ve experienced, it seems to go well.
