  2. I have a question for y’all experts on here. A Gillette Double Ring what a missing tooth. Anyone know of someone that could fix it? I have heard that it can be done but cost more than most razors are worth, but a DR would qualify as being worth it.

  5. 0914CF63-5DAF-4414-B391-7C14A90B87AC.jpeg Forward on the trail of Aristocrats we go and today comes courtesy of a fine No. 66 set. This particular razor is of a 1955-57 vintage, has a patent number on the tray and “II” stamped on the underside.

Today’s soap/cream of choice was beloved Proraso Green along with the pre-shave lotion and matching AS. Love the scent and that cool menthol feel of the lot.

Proceeded to load up a Gillette Silver Blue and to town I went on a three pass BBS shave. Been quite lucky lately with the BBS shaves which I am attributing to the weight of the last few razors I have cycled through. Effortless really with this razor.

Happy hump day and shaves to all!

This year, there have only been 14 instances when I did not use either an ABC razor or a Gillette 102. Of those 14 shaves, half(7) were either my Double Ring, 102a, or 162 on an ABC handle. I suspect a pattern has developed.

  9. Last shave and final tally. The American Goodwill 175 with a Ladas unless the blade was done there was big drop off in performance it was still better than the New short and long combs but not as good as the New DeLuxe or American Goodwill 160. It was like shaving with a 40s style super speed that shaved you much closer. No cuts, irritation or such.

The finally tally on these razors, my metrics based upon my shave experience using 2 different blades with each

best overall shaver - American Goodwill 160

smoothest shaver - New long comb / Otto Roth

most efficient - American Goodwill 160

most aggressive - American Goodwill 160

least aggressive - American Goodwill 175

    Final ranking
    1. American Goodwill 160
    2. New DeLuxe
    3. American Goodwill 175
    4. New short comb
    5. New long comb / Otto Roth

Based on all this my personal preference if I had to use one as daily shaver would go to the American Goodwill 175. When you factor in the pain and bleeding this one performs the best with the least of those with both blades. If you are one pass shaver this metric is more evenly spread out among the razors but if you do 5 passes like I do this metric will all change with the amount of passes and type of passes like ATG, XTG.

  19. Hello Joseph, I’m still kicking. Not by much though. Thank you for your consideration my friend. I plan to enjoy each day as best I can. As of yesterday my lung doctor did a modified PFT, and says I’m Down to 30% lung function. To be honest, I am very surprised I am still on my feet. But, there is always hope for advancements in medical science. One thing about this life on this earth..... nobody gets out alive.

  20. Hello good sir. Thank you for the kind words and recognition. Yes, the Gillette Tuckaways are very cool razors. Whether they be New Deluxe, or New Improved. And both are fine shavers as well. Gillette has so many fantastic razor sets, it is hard to fathom. Both one piece and three piece. (And the itinerate four piece. ). Quite the amazing array of razors. I really love them all.
