i’m putting together a kit for a friend, pre /post shave oil, fancy french soap and Arko, super speed razor, blade sampler.....

I’m inclined towards a boar brush because it feels stiffer and offers more Input on legs

Or an inexpensive badger it’s softer...

    Any advice here

I have both already, part of me wants another badger for myself

Just my input, my GF likes a soft brush, that's why I usually find one of my Tuxedo brushes in the bathroom. Might have to make her one, she likes the idea of a Cashmere knot.

My former wife liked scritchy black badger and long handle boars.

I would pass on the tuxedo knots. They are soft but also have a lot of backbone. They may make her hand tired. But I do think a synthetic knot brush will be best .

My wife uses a synthetic knot with a plastic handle. She uses it in the shower, which is also where she stores it.

I could see this being a deciding factor. Synthetic for no worries maintenance, and a plastic handle that won't swell and split like wood. Guess it depends on the gift receivers personal habits. Assuming she converts and sticks with it later the discussion about scrubby boar or some variation of badger could happen.

For legs, I'd guess larger is better? Maybe a 30mm synthetic?

    It's a Fuller with a 25mm Tuxedo flat top.

By the way .... she's very happy with it.

Not necessarily. It depends on how big or small her hands are. As for type of brush, i can’t speak for all women, but my favorite is silver tip badger.

My wife loves her 24mm plissoft as it's very soft and has good splay/coverage. Being synthetic, it generates lather quickly with no fuss.

Her razor of choice of the Leaf razor (triple blade, pivoting head that takes 3-half DE blades).
