That's something I've never tried to make at home. I appreciate being able to buy flour tortillas fresh at the grocery store. Guessing there's a difference between what I've eaten and what she makes.

As to beans - very few I don't enjoy. Brown lentils and sage sausage with a hunk of corn bread, hummus on a cracker, baby limas cooked from dried with a bit of ham. One of my favorites during cooler months is a 15 bean soup and smoked sausage.

Finishing up a Mild March Madness with the Aristocrat and Feather, using Moon Old School with the Semogue boar brush. Classic shave that went three passes, ended BBS and was as smooth as silk. Alum is silent and that brings my March to a very successful end. It was a fun month using mostly mild razors and never touching a Russian blade, Synthetic brush or Stirling soap. Ok, so maybe not fun because of not getting to use those things, but it was great to reconnect with some gear that often goes underused. A couple of quick notes on my thoughts on the month.

1. Just because a blade isn't Russian doesn't mean it's bad. There is, however, a higher likelihood of that.
2. Natural bristle brushes are quite nice to work with even though they do require a bit more work than the synths. I feel like, though, I am more skilled when using them. That vintage thing.
3. There are a lot of really good soaps out there. It's a problem for the soap makers because competition is fierce. It's a good thing for consumers because competition is fierce.
4. Tiger blades suck. Zorrik blades could use some help.

I haven't kept up with the later models. Was a 5.0 a V-8 or V-6?
Had a '68 Torino with a 289 cu.in. that was plenty power for a four door. Sure a 302 would have added some pep to it's step but at a loss of fuel economy.

Finished March with the same gear I started with. Good shave.

I don't remember what I had planned for March but it turned into a Rule and stayed there. I will extend it into April to complete 30 shaves as well as 30 days. Other than that, I mostly kept up with the thread and enjoyed reading good conversations, tales of joy and woe, and some excellent shenanigans. Finding out that a Tiger blade almost literally won't cut butter was a high point.

It was tough keeping up. The Ladies Sewing Circle was reduced from professional to amateur gossipmonger status by the awesome information distribution and intelligence purveying skills of the Mens Shaving Club! ("Information distribution specialist" or "private intelligence purveyor" sound ever so much more business like and important than "gossipmonger", don't they?)

Your post brings back happy memories. When I lived in Tucson I shared a place with a younger Navajo fellow. When his mom and sisters would visit there woule be fresh tortillas through out the day. Just wonderful. I did not aquire the taste for mutton stew though.

Umm, no thank you. There's something about avocados and guac I just can't do. Might be tied to my mothers obsessive use of celery & green bell peppers in too many home cooked meals.

5.0 is a 302,approx rename in the 80s,289 cu in engines are a great engine , like chev 283, but would use a little more fuel due to higher rpm ranges to get torque for heavier cars.larger displacement engines were a little better on fuel as less effort was required to move said vehicle, torquier engines with better gearing meant lower rpms and better highway speeds also..however this changes when one uses the go pedal a little closer to the floor..

Sometimes these things are profit motivated on the raw material side.

Years ago, I used to bribe my kids with Mike & Ike candy. I kept it in a jar that I would shake to get them to come running. It used to annoy the Lovely Mrs Headroom that I was infusing them with too much sugar. I would explain to her that it contained the 4 main food groups, yellow, orange, red and green. I did love a handful of that candy myself until...... I found pink!

I contacted the maker to express my disappointment with their change. I got back much double-speak about market testing and customer preferences.

I still think that strawberry flavoring is a lower cost ingredient. I doubt they care or will ever change back just because of what I think. But I will probably go to my grave telling people why I don't buy Mike & Ikes anymore, instead of my continuing purchases because it used to be great.

I considered replacing the 3 speed FMX automatic in my Mach I with a manual tranny. Not even sure which rear end it had, but top speed was 70MPH or so. It had little problems getting up to that speed but it wasn't geared to be an Interstate cruiser. Having an Offenhauser 4bbl intake and appropriate carb wih headers didn't make for better mpg, either.
