Turn your head for a day on this thread, and you'll never catch up. I actually had to skip the last day of last months thread, and this month is already moving fast... Anyway, as always, I'm in, and at this point I'm focusing on just keeping up with the thread. That's all I got. Oh... and ice cream... I've got ice cream. Oh, and putting together shavey awards for next month.

House sale update:

Our house went on the market about 8:00pm on Saturday, March 23. We had multiple showings the next day, which is when we left for vacation. Our realtor called us on Sunday night (about 24 hours after it being on the market) saying that we had a full price offer. We accepted and inspection was done on Wednesday and we are now officially under contract with no contingencies. We close on April 30 and we must vacate here by May 3.

It moved incredibly fast! So many elements to be thankful for. Alice is going tomorrow most of the day to look at houses for us to buy. I'll be at work, of course, but she's the boss so if she doesn't like a house there is no need for me to see it.

It's pretty insane that were under contract in 24 hours from when the house went live on the MLS listing. We didn't expect that type of speed. But hey, we'll take it!

Well we're off to a good start over here even as March continues to move forward on the flip side. I have easy plans for this month. Arko Adjustable April isn't tough to do when you have as much Arko around as I do. I keep a mug full of Arko and I have 10 sticks in the drawer just in case I run out. (Like that's even possible with 10 sticks in the house) As for the adjustable issues - here's what's in my arsenal:

Gillette Fatboy
Gillette Slim
Gillette Black Beauty
Soviet Consul
Qshave Futur Clone
Schick Type M

I also plan to get some Stirling shaves mixed in there this month, just to break up the Arko a bit. All of my brushes are back in play as well. Enough madness! Oh, and expect to see Russian blades. LOTS of Russian blades. Maybe ALL Russian blades. I missed them in March.

Thanks for your continued participation and WOW what a March we had. The busiest month on record for the 30 DC. April should be a great month too, and for me it's exciting not only because of everything going on here, but because I can finally announce my new "employer"! (I hear the new boss is a real slave driver)

Today was my final day selling mattresses. As of right now I'm in business for myself. I'll be going down two paths, basically. The first is through a DBA called Three Rivers Rideshare. I'm going to be doing full time delivery service and rideshares through Grubhub, Uber, Lyft, Postmates, Instacart. I've been developing that avenue for nearly a year and am at the point where I can take it full time. The second path is another DBA called Neal Cox Realty. I'm in the process of getting my Real Estate license and entertaining offers from brokers to start selling. My short-term plan - drive and deliver to pay the bills and feed us while I build the real estate business. My long-term plan - open my own real estate brokerage. I've been selling for other people for too long and dealing with the restrictions of corporate life. Time to break free!

Enough of that......let's have a fantastic April!

Good morning!

Excellent shave to start the day! Three passes for near BBS with silent alum.

First use of the Arko shave stick. I didn't find the scent off putting at all. I colored my face until it felt as if I was just smearing soap rather than transferring anymore and ended up with enough lather for two full passes. The third pass was pretty thin but enough to get the job done.

Finding the Arko shave stick and a boar brush I loaded a Gillette Slim with a new Feather blade with one on deck. I made sure the razor was open full Throttle(9), then lathered up for an April 1 shave.
Ok, the slickness was not what I'm accostom to, but usable none the less.
The first pass seemed slightly rougher, but that was soon fixed by adjusting my razor (riding the cap) to glide over the skin. The second pass with a the 2cd new blade was smooth and close. A small amount of itching on tje neck, nothing major, that soon subsided before the head was clean and smooth.
I had used this soap months and months ago with irritating results. My skill level must be better now because there were no issues this time.

Now with a little Nivea I'm smooth and clean, ready for the day!

Adjustables? I've completely divested myself of them. Unless you count the Rockwell 6S, but that's on the block too.
So my main focus remains the open blades. I'll be hitting 100 straight razor shaves around the middle of the month. I'll probably keep using them for the rest of the month. I'll wait for Mayhem to take a break from them. No, I don't have any insanity planned. Just a few recent acquisitions that I've yet to try.
So meanwhile, today it's the Gravjura again. And the Piccolo to clean up. With a big bowl o' Arko goodness, chased with Glacial Lime splash for menthol Monday. No oopses, just an awesome shave.

Now, I could have waited to shave this evening because the 7/8 near wedge Wosty did a magnificent job yesterday, but I wanted to use this adjustable. This Fatboy is not the raffle prize that was generously donated by Kevin (CrustyCat). Let me get on with the review. Decided to use the Bay Rum (Stirling) that produced a nice, slick lather. My Semogue OC badger did a fantastic job whipping up and applying the lather. I did three passes, but frankly, I could have just finished at one for a DFS. This was a great shave! The Fatboy felt nice in my hand and it really was a joy using it. I recommend that if you like adjustable razors, then you should have this razor in your den. I finally understand what all the hoopla was about with this razor.

I think I have this "chin" thing worked out, so my fling with adolescence has subsided.
This amazing Friodur was acquired from Obie, a well-known and respected member of most
every forum, except here, unfortunately.
It is a joy to use and was the culprit that narrowly removed my left knuckle.
I have since healed and am paying particular attention to how I wave my arms around,
when wielding a surgically-sharp instrument.
Every time I use this soap/as combination, I question why I use anything else?
Seriously folks, the Mike's Barbershop is not to be bested by any other product on today's market.
Let's just talk about the scent. I don't know what the heck is the recipe,
but it is just what I think of, when conjuring up a barbershop in my mind.
The lather...well, anyone who has ever tried Mike's know's what I am talking about.
Creamy...slick..unctuous..protective, it has it all.
The Friodur was stropped without issue, 50 laps. I am getting that down as well.
I don't have to "re-adjust" every ten laps.
I actually did not use the SRD strop pictured, but rather my Wladimir Slavin.
Not sure why?
Perhaps because I really, really think it's a cool strop.
It's also not as wide...I am beginning to prefer the 2" strop width.
The remaining gear performed as expected.
Rubberset...check.
Floïd Blue...check.
Excellent, DFS+ shave.

Monday is not my favorite day of the week. However today was worse than usual. I was up with abdominal pain most of the night. I’m not sure if I tore some of the scar tissue that adheres to the mesh or this is the start of a diverticulitis flare up. I do know it hurts! I would have preferred to stay in bed but given the time of year that wasn’t an option. I get in a shave. Let’s just say that apart from a nick, the shave was ok at best. I’ve made it to the office. Now let’s hope I’m productive. I hope everyone has a better start to their Monday.

So sorry to hear about your pain, Clint. I hope a fever doesn't set in and that this goes away quickly. Not a good time of year for you to have to miss any work because of this, obviously.
