A great scent I created by accident was mixing 3/4 of a puck Almond with 1/4 puck Lime. Smells like Cherry-Limeade to me!
col conk small lime puck and large amber puck, with menthol crystals, very nice sweetish lime scent with nice cooling .. nice and slick, great shave..
I have found an amber in my old storage chest. It is now dark brown. Has it just matured like a 'good wine' or has it gone off and no longer suitable to use?
My guess would be that vanilla is the culprit. I understand it's pretty common in "amber" scents. Vanilla does turn brown with exposure to air. It isn't spoilage, just a change of color. I've heard tell of soaps with lots of it actually staining brushes. This soap is not too heavily scented though, so I wouldn't worry about that.
I am actually looking forward to using it. It was bought years ago when there were precious few 'Artisan' soaps available. Found it the other day.....and as Cold Water shaving seems to be more forgiving.....it's being revisited!
Its great stuff! As a general rule of thumb, most soaps have a far longer shelf life than creams, ive heard of a guy that bought a world war 2 era shaving soap a month or two ago and he tried shaving with it and it still works great! Sent from my Redmi S2 using Tapatalk
I appreciate this thread. I used CC bay rum early on and it worked fine, but I couldn’t get the thick lather I wanted. Now, with more experience and different preferences I can get what I want out of just about anything and I ‘ve been thinking- I need to try CC again. Interestingly, 5-6 years into wet shaving, I am starting to prefer many inexpensive soaps and creams. Lately, I ‘ve been using VDH, Palmolive, Derby, and Ingram’s a lot.
