Beautiful shave, Keith, and an even better photo of you and your Lady! Thanks for sharing, and enjoy the Cherry Blossom Festival.
James, try some unrefined shea butter if you can find it. If you apply a very small amount and use your towel to blot off the excess, your skin will feel great. A little goes a long way, so using too much and not blotting off the excess will make your skin feel greasy. It also does a great job on soothing irritation, and it's great for your hands as well. My hands become severely dry in the winter, and it is the best moisturizer I've ever used. (It's also great for sunburn, but that's never a problem in the UK. ). Considering a 16-ounce tub will last for months, it is super inexpensive compared to most commercial products. It is sourced from west Africa. If I can find it here in the states, I'm sure you can locate a seller in the UK. I get mine here. It costs a little more, but it has a quality certification (important since it is a raw product, IMO) and is nearly odorless. I contacted this organization, and they put me in contact with the vendor. I'm sure they would help you find a UK vendor as well.
Thanks Terry! My first TTO was the VDH and the blades came with it. The blades do the job but they dull very quickly.
April 7 Good morning guys! Just finished shaving! I could've waited until this evening to shave, but I wanted to try one of my new soaps from Stirling. I decided to try the Satsuma soap. It has a nice orange scent. Lathered with my Rocky synthetic. Decided to use my Slim adjustable at setting 9 armed with a Rocky blade. Three passes, no blood, no irritation and a BBS shave. I didn't have to do the third pass but the Satsuma scent was sweet that I wanted to ex perience it again. Ended with the matching AS. I like this soap and AS because it is light which is what you need so that you don't attract stinging insects. I enjoyed this morning's shave because it was smooth and easy. Have a great Sunday fellas!
Good morning, Joe! I bet the shave with your wide open Slim was a breeze after mastering straight razors and your Dovo shavette. I sometimes perform the third pass just for fun too. I'm glad you like the Satsuma soap. Have a restful Sunday, my friend.
Thanks Charlie! Yes, it is true! It is a breeze using safety razors... Although, I never had a problem using safety razors per se, however, my safety razor technique has improved immensely since I delved into straights. It never occured to me to stretch my skin when using safety razors. Now, I really get great shaves when I use them.
Thanks for the well wishes and prayers. It is needed for Mom. Dad is slowly improving, meds doing their thing. Had to have a few hours rest in my own bed. Time for Coffee. Shower. Shave (will be Arko and my L1 Slim). Back to 'Get 'er done' mode and be with Mom today.
Danny, awesome report and shave! I have a tuck of Voskhod given to me with my Fatboy by Kevin. What do you think of those blades?
Charlie, that's great that you lost all that weight and you are continuing with exercising. I was overweight most of my adult life and decided 3 years ago at age 61 to lose weight. At the time, I weighed approximately 200lbs on a 5' 7" frame. I joined LA Fitness in Aug 2016 and presently, I fluctuate between 168 to 172. I could stand to lose another 5 to 7 pounds, but I feel like a man in his 40's. I thank God for giving me an exercise program. Charlie, keep up the good work! Be blessed, my friend!
