  5. So here is how I shave my neck, sorry no video. I decided it was a bad idea to ask my woman to video it for me.

I am a four pass shaver, I find I get the best results through beard reduction. Here is how I do the 4 passes on my neck:

Pass 1 - north to south

Pass 2 - south to north

Pass 3 is 45 degrees going from the base of my neck toward my chin, it is almost a Gillette slide.

Pass 4 is the money pass: I rinse my face and pat my cheeks dry, then I run the alum with my fingertips. To shave my right side I reach over my head with my left hand and then pulling on my cheeks I pull the skin tight and tilt my head. I use an inverted grip on the razor and shave from my ear towards the chin. Just change hands for the left side. It took me some practice to get this down. I recommend using a shavette without a blade to practice.

  7. Arko Adjustable April

    April 9

    Razor - Soviet Consul (9)
    Blade - [IMG] (3)
    Soap - Arko
    Brush - Jayaruh #230
    Post - Alum

One more time for the Consul and Sharp Star. Another round for the Arko, this time with the JR230. For a small brush it packs a wallop. Looks great and works great. Can't ask for more than that. Three passes for the third shave and I have this uber-aggressive razor right where I want it. Angle was perfect, no pressure, and the baby showed up to spend some time. Very nice result. The alum was just a touch warm in a few spots where I obsessed, but no real problems. I'll take it.

An early start for me today. Up at 6 and out the door by 7:30. Not my usual style as I'm definitely more of a night owl. I'll return to my late morning tomorrow as I have a doctor's visit around noon so no reason to hurry up and out. Hope you all have a fantastic hump day!

  16. My replacement lathe arrived yesterday and I just unpacked it tonight. Waiting on carbides to arrive so I can make my own lathe tools . Been so darn busy lately I haven't got the stand made or the steel cut for the tools yet. Anxious to get cranking out brush handles.
  17. I’m still picking up ways to stretch better and different grips to keep getting better results.
  18. Thought I was going to get a break from the rug rat race today. The twin 8 year old grand daughters have a bug and skipped school, their mom took them and lil brother to the doctors office for a round of whatever pink liquid is the cure these days. So I settled in for a read-n-catch up session here. Nope, the battery on the Mom Van is passed it's expiry. She felt it loosing power as she got to the Docs office. Loaded the standard road assistance tool box and GPS'd my way across town. Jumper cables and a little time juiced up the battery. While waiting I took advantage to visit a one off pharmacy in the same strip mall. The owner is a wet shaver and stocks a limited bit of Proraso, a couple RazoRock DE razors, GSB blades, and...Feathers! Nope. Empty cardboard display. He did have a SLOC that is suspiciously like the Yaqi DOC cap and base. So with the Mom Van charged up we did the obvious next thing - went grocery shopping. What else to do while waiting for the pharmacy to fill scripts. Being across town at the big new Kroger store, we walked every isle, gathered stuff for a couple meals, and sushi for supper. Now home, everyone settled in, all's quiet and I just might talk myself into a shave.

But first a Shavette Fu to catch up.
Glad you got serviceable lather. Stirling is good in that it takes on lots of water before breaking. Hoping the scent opens up for you Joe!
Umm, sure. If it's weak sauce use more. If you added to much add more food? That Matouk's West Indian is Scotch Bonnet peppers. It just might be hot.
I hope my kids have the sense to check the bay before dumping it. I've shopped slowly, picking my Shulton juice up in the wild for vintage Avon prices. Guess you aren't a fan of old Old Spice?

  20. I'm just having some fun with you, Rick. I expect most of what we think has value will be disposed of in some way soon after we're no longer around. As much as I like my shaving gear, I couldn't pay some of my friends to try it. Too bad for them. :)

I purchased some Old Spice maybe 25 years ago. I assume it would be considered the Shulton juice. I used some, but I think I gave most of it to my Father-in-law. He used it regularly. In fact, he got it every year for Christmas. I remember it as being a good scent, and the bottle just looked classy sitting in the bathroom. I just didn't use much aftershave in those days. I also had a bottle of Stetson. I used a bit and gave the rest to my Brother-in-law. I was in a hurry one morning and sprayed some in my eye. At that point, I figured I wasn't cut out for cologne. Back in those days, I even purchased a puck of Williams and a Burma shave brush. However, I didn't stick with it long enough to make a good lather or actually learn how to shave with a real razor...back to the Norelco I went until 2012.
