Thanks...I do not know if it is permanent. I have not made up my mind yet but I am having a little fun with it.

  6. Congrats John. I love it when someone experiences a breakthrough that takes them to the next level. I've watched a ton of shaving videos over the years, and I learned to take short, quick, slightly overlapping strokes from Mantic59. It helped improve my shaves as well.

  7. Thank you, gentlemen! And it just goes to show that there can always be something new to learn, even in a routine activity that you have done for quite awhile.

  8. That was a kind offer from Clint! And congrats on making the plunge, Danny.

But I have a question for you two: Does the name "OC-D plate" refer in any way to a mental condition you have to have before you use it? ;). Just asking for a friend -- who has seriously been contemplating the need for a Karve razor in his den...

Oh, and love the new avatar, Danny!

  9. John, Clint is a great guy and very kind like you said. Maybe I should label that as D-OC and not OC-D. I am probably border line OCD. I am just to scared to set on the couch for a diagnosis. OCD would be the least of my problems.:scared011:Oh yeah...tell your "friend" to go ahead and get you a Karve...I mean get him a Karve.:happy088:

  12. They just put four of us on plant coverage. Two on days and two on nights, twelve hour shifts, seven days a week. Fortunately I'm on days this time. No set time for when it will end. I will be more easily enabled (if that's even possible) for the duration.

Days aren't bad and we negotiated for a rest day after 13 consecutive days a couple of contracts ago. Before that was set in place my personal record was sixty six consecutive days without a day off. I've heard of guys doing well over a hundred consecutive days in the past.

  15. Razor: Muhle R41 w/ iKon Bulldog
    Blade: Gillette 7 o'clock Yellow (2)
    Brush: Bluebeard Doubloon
    Soap: TOBS Peppermint
    Post: Proraso Green Balm

    Holy mother of...
... This razor is the real deal! Another 1.5 passes (plus small touchups around the chin) has yielded a BBS on my face and a DFS on my neck. Zero irritation, no blood letting, just a comfortable, easy shave.

This blade feels fantastic - it is both sharp and smooth. I am washing the blade and carefully towel drying it, then flipping the blade before putting it back in the cleaned/dried razor. I have no idea if this makes a difference, but I'd like to see how long I can go on getting great 1.5 pass shaves with this blade!

I am sure that my success with this razor is attributed to the technique that you guys have helped me to develop in my time with the 30DC, and for that I am very grateful... Especially when you read the Muhle R41 horror stories!

  16. My wife certainly says I have OCD so the razor fits.

Tell your friend to take the plunge on the Karve razor. It beats the cost of therapy

  18. This is something that I have discovered over the last couple of weeks too! I dare not do long strokes with my Fatip and R41

Congratulations on taking your shaves up a notch. Bet it feels good!
