Some folks claim it has the famous GEM Clog Pruf design, Can not blame them for coping a great razor design in a 1912 configuration .
Fri 12th April Omega 11126 boar Vitos Super Red PAA Starling V2 /Windrose Handle Gem S/S [ 5 ] Jaguar Prestige A/S Lotion I find the Starling to be a Harsh Shaver rather than an Aggressive efficient one. To get a satisfactory Shave takes quite a bit of effort and concentration, and then only delivers the quality of Shave that I get from a HFT in a shorter period of time. There are no after effects from the Shave I think in part due to the excellent Vitos Lather.
Cobra Classic Schick Proline P My first use of an A&E soap (does A&E mean the same thing in the States?) and I'm very impressed. Thick, slick and moisturising with a pleasant scent, excellent. Happy Shaving one and all.

Friday's Shave Cold Water Rinse Amalfi Basil Lemon Shave Soap Jayaruh #224 Synthetic Gem Contour Gem Stainless CWR PSC Caffeinated AS My prep was just a cold water rinse. The Amalfi Basil Lemon Shave Soap face lathered well with Jayaruh #224 Synthetic brush. I did two passes with the Gem Contour razor with a vintage Gem Stainless SE blade and ended up with a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse, I finished off with PSC Caffeinated AS. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

I pursue the traditional Safety Razor, never really get the chance to fully explore SR, I quickly switch to Straight Razor Path, I'm curious to know more about it?
Over across the street we have the Starling pass around going on. It's my turn with it. First pass was with the closed comb plate. It wasn't a bad pass. Once you develop the muscle memory to get the right angle it is just the same as any other razor. I then changed to the open comb plate. Again, once you find the angle, it's akin to any other razor. I'll try the plates in reverse order tomorrow or Sunday and see if that makes any difference. I suspect it won't.
Interesting....I've seen these pop up on the Den every know and then. Do you like it better than a vintage SE? Does it bring anything else to the table?
Danny, it's hard to say as of right now wether or not I like it better than vintage. It's just the first shave. I can tell you this, it is machined very well. Wonderfully built and no blade movement at all. I know some folks say it's hard to use because of the head size, but I didn't find that to be my issue. I think it works as a gateway to allow folks the first experience with an SE razor. My initial thought, just copy a MMOC or a MMCP and be done with it. Time will tell however.
That would be great but very expensive. The three piece is the cheapest production model. I'd be happy with a modern flip top.
