1. There are so many safety razors on the market right now at all different price points. What are the smoothest razors you have used? Which razors have the least amount of blade feel with the most amount of efficiency? Feel free to break it down by price point if you feel so inclined. Of course, this is subject to YMMV, but let's hear your thoughts.

My experience is limited to a Merkur 34c and vintage Gillettes. After taking part in Fatboy February, I can get a comfortable shave with the Fatboy. I wouldn't say it is a smooth shaver though. The 34c with a Feather blade is much less likely to irritate my skin and I get a closer shave with it. I'm looking for something a little different though. I'm looking for smooth!

  2. i would say my gillette new rfb at present.. fantastic shaves..
  3. I really like my Fine "Marvel" razor. The blade gap looks scary but shaves so well
  4. Modern:

    Razorock Mamba
    PAA Doc

    1953 Gillette President
    1959 Gillette Flare Tip SS
    PAA original DOC

  7. very cool sir, pics of the president set would look nice in the "Gillettes Finest" thread..:)
  8. PAA DOC
    Cooper Monobilt
and when I really dial in the angle, the shake sharp.

I've heard that the one blade razor is exceptionally smooth, but don't want to spend the cash for the metal one, and won't lower my standards enough to get the plastic model.

  9. Many of the early ones have Bakelite Handles, which is much different and much better than plastic. I believe that all of the Schick E Razors are Bakelite.

  10. That's sort of an oxymoron. I was going to respond Feather AS-D2.
  11. In no particular order Stahly, Shake Sharp, Timeless Bronze SB.

  12. I’ll be honest, I’ve been hooked on my Schick Krona lately. So much so, I’m looking for two more for my sons.

  13. Plus one for the Fine marvel razor. It's so smooth that you sometimes wonder if there is a blade in it yet it is very efficient (as opposed to aggressive). To me it beats the Rockwell 6s plate 6. While it is a heavy razor it doesn't feel heavy when shaving because it is well balanced. The only problem with the razor is that it makes shaving so easy it becomes boring!

  14. Depends on the blade but possibly the smoothest I ever used was the Ranger Tech, marginally but definitely better than other Super Speed type razors.

The humble zamak Clix EZ Flo is also very smooth (again, depending on choice of blade), which is why I've held onto it.

  15. He means the OneBlade.

  16. My brother in law gave me one of these for me for Christmas. Actually haven't used it yet. It's time to break it out!
  17. Yeah. That is the razor i was referring to.
Idiotic name for a razor from a marketing standpoint. Have you ever tried googling "one blade razor?"
  18. The Schick C3 repeating razor.
  19. Smooth? I'm assuming you mean the razor not results on face.
Gillette tech is cheapest way to smooth.
    other notable razors,
Above the Tie Calypso m/r( havent used the h)
The 6s is also remarkably affective is comparison to its mildness.
I get tremendous results from the Grand Shave King self lubricating razor, although the masses deemed it too mild. But it always give me fantastic shaves.

  20. Stahley shave head on a BullDog handle, RR German 37 slant and the 39-40 Aristocrat. All have been very smooth, nick and irritation free for me.:happy088:
