April Focus Hemingway Accoutrements~~Simpson CH2 Super Badger~~dubl duck Goldedge SR #65 After 3 days with a DE razor, I am back to the straights and finding myself a bit out of practice. Some awkward set-downs, led to temporary marks... The new brush is a Grey Box era CH2 and I "babied" it today, resulting in probably less than optimal lather from the Hemingway Accoutrements. Normally, I combine strong circles with paint brush strokes and am also not usually afraid to get some scrubbing in, but not this morning...going to have to rethink how I use this brush. Except for around the chin, I was fairly successful achieving a DFS+ shave. Honestly, the last two shaves with the lowly Weishi and a Minor blade have spoiled me. You can really rip around the face with a DE and as long as you keep the angle, boom, BBS. Post-shave included an Alum, which vocalized a high C and some Thayer's and while it didn't sing, per se, it was a welcome calming to the freshly abraded skin. The aftershave tonic smells magnificent and does a great job refreshing the skin. There is a nice post-silkiness that is very soothing as well. Happy Easter Happy belated Passover Primo....out.
April 21, 2019 Gillette J-3 Slim Feather Shavemac D-01 3 Band Molton Brown Captain’s Choice Bay Rum Up and moving pretty early this morning. The three of us are on the way to celebrate Easter with my Mom and the extended family. The little Shavemac loaded and lathered the Molton Brown with ease. I really enjoyed the face scrub from the brush. I need to remember to use the Shavemac more often. Three passes and touch ups ended in a near perfect shave. I can now happily clean and put away the Slim for a least another year or more. While the results are ok, I just don't like using the razor. A splash of CC Bay Rum and I am ready for a the day. Happy Easter to everyone. I hope you all have a great day.
April 21st (no image day....) J&J BS*** Neutrogena Men's FS Gillette L1 Slim Gillette Personna Arko SS WSP Synthetic Pinaud Clubman Vanilla Another KISS day for Arko Adjustable month. Uneventful 2 pass DFS most everywhere (lower right neck NOT). One of these days I'll figure that area out. ***On the other hand.....nursing some road rash from a spill yesterday on a new toy. OneWheel XR (think one wheeled electric skate board, or maybe use your favorite search tool). Yeah, still a kid playing having fun at 53. Had protective gear, so just light flesh wounds on forearm and right side of right shin. Lots of hydrogen peroxide, Neosporin, bandages, etc. Shower this morning, didn't want any heavy colored/scented soap, so used good 'ol J&J Baby Shampoo. Re-apply all the goo and bandages. Grew up on skate boards, BMX bikes, dirt bikes, sailboats/windsurfing, wake boarding and snowboarding (hated it, too cold). The XR combines many of those thrills/skills set into one. Silly mistake trying to accelerate too quickly and went over the front. Hurts 100x more than happening on a windsurfer! Lesson learned. About time to go spatchcock and rub a turkey, fire up the BGE and get to smoking/cooking/enjoying Easter Day and Dinner with the family. Have a blessed Easter Day everyone!
