  1. Thank you, Danny! You are making me feel like the Mickey Mantle of shavers! Lol!
  2. I watched this video earlier:

It got me thinking, again, about the way I have been approaching my shaving over the past few months. I have been looking for THE razor that gives me a close shave without irritation and burn etc. etc. I have had good (not truly great) shaves from a range of razors including GEM types, a Schick G, an EFBT and others, but just lately I have been blown away by my Muhle R41 with an 80mm iKon Bulldog handle. The irony is that as soon as I have gotten truly great shaves, I'm looking for a 'solid metal, high-end' razor to replace my R41...

... Something stinks. My own inability to see past the hype that surrounds all of these things. I'm not sure if my latest and greatest shaves with the Muhle R41 are as a result of my improved technique in my 12 months of wet shaving, or whether or not the Muhle R41 is genuinely such a great razor for me and my face. What I do know is that I am getting the best shaves that I have ever had in my shaving life. I have read all sorts of horror stories about Zamak razors deteriorating blah blah blah, and I'm certain that they do with time and misfortune. My Muhle R41 is brand new, in fantastic condition and in the hands of a man who cares for and maintains his shaving (and other) equipment. Mine isn't going anywhere any time soon... Heck, some guys on here, and other forums, still regularly use their 2011 models and they're as good as new!

I am putting away all of my other razors (I might sell/PIF them in future) in favour of my R41. I am going to follow the advice of the experienced members here and of Chris in the video, and I am going to give my razor TIME!

I am going to embark on a 100 shave journey (yes I've said this before, but this razor actually gives me BBS shaves - no excuses) using the following gear:

    Razor - Muhle R41 (2013)
Blade - Astra SP (First blades I ever bought - I have 18 left of my original pack of 100 & will order 200 more for £15 shipped)
Brush - Bluebeard Doubloon (First brush I ever bought - Cheapo boar bristle brush)
Soap - TOBS Peppermint until empty. Then I'll move onto my other two TOBS creams (Almond & Sandalwood).
Post - Proraso Balm or TOBS Sandalwood Alcohol-Free (when I use the Sandalwood soap).
Pre - TOBS Sandalwood pre-shave oil if I use the Sandalwood range (probably Sunday best shaves!)

I've already had 3 shaves with this setup, so I'll be posting regular updates and photos as I go on from shave #4!

I wonder what my shaves will be like in 97 shaves time?!

    Enjoy your shaves gents!
  3. Thank you Andrew.

  13. Good for you, James! A word of caution, you may get bored after 100 shaves and probably want to try a new razor. This may lead to razor acquisition disorder syndrome.

  20. From your mouth to God's ears, Danny! If I did have wealth, then I would still be the same person. I would anonymously help those in need through no fault of their own. I probaby have a larger shave den as well. Oh, who am I kidding! It will be large and magnificent!
