Gem MMCP Gem PTFE A silky smooth Saturday shave, you've gotta love the Clog Pruf. Happy Shaving one and all.
Yesterday I took this photo of my SOTD kit...Do you see the "photo-bomb"? My ER Lather Catcher photo-bombed me, and I immediately wanted to shave again..ROTFLMAO!! Couldn't wait for today...Getting ready to give that Lather Catcher some Love as we post! Sent from my SM-N950U using Tapatalk
Thank you, Gary. It was Jason @jtspartan that nicknamed the brush Lemondrop. If I remember correctly it was called Sunrise Glow in the purchase description. I like Lemondrop better. Sent from my SM-G965U using Tapatalk
same here sir, i love the lemondrop candies, and the color.. i will purchase a brush this color if i see another..
Autostrop VC1, shave 1 with a Gem Carbon Steel blade stropped and modified as per @Boru62 suggestion to just despine and use without further modification. Major difference in how this razor shaves. This went from being a scraper to a shaver with the different mod and the first pass was harsh as anything. I don't know if that has to do with the blade needing to be broken in or user error. After the first pass things settled down and no further nicks or cuts just lots of burn in between passes when splashing with water. That could be this soap I am using. It is not the first time I've had the face burn problem with this soap. 5 passes later best shave I've had in a long time. I'll be able to work out the issues over the next few shaves. The only question is whether I use this blade for as many passes as possible first or switch over to Feather carbon blade next to compare and then a blue carbon steel gem blade.
Was it a Blue Star blade? I find them smooth straightaway unlike the PTFE blades. I also find the VC-1 a very smooth shave. This is such a subjective hobby. If you don't mind, what was the soap?

The blade was a CVS branded one. I'd use a Gem stainless ptfe blade in it next except I don't have anymore to use except for the one I used in the micromatics and that has 4 shaves on it now. I don't think the razor is the issue here for the harshness but the blade itself and my lack of experience using one of these. Stropping it could have been an issue also that is something I'll test when I put another one of these blades in fresh. Normally I use C/O Bigelow cream or the Van Der Hagen pucks without any issues but today I decided to use these soap samples from Shannon's soaps. I've never had my face flare up when splashing water on it between shave passes except with this soap.
I stand corrected. From the B model up they were adjustable. According to the instructions I read across the street.
A few shaves from busy times. I have a video of todays shave but did not get it uploaded before work time. This is AV scented Modern Williams. The jury is still out on the process. British shave...kinda. The 1912 ER is British.... the Boots shave stick andvaftershave too. The brush is a vintage ER 500PB. It is a shedder and will be a reknot.

SE Sunday's Shave Cold Water Rinse Amalfi Basil Lemon Jayaruh #343 Synthetic Henckels Rapide Gem Blue Star CS CWR Dove Men+Care Post Shave Balm My prep was just a cold water rinse. The Amalfi Basil Lemon Shave Soap face lathered well with Jayaruh #343 Synthetic brush. I did two passes with the Henckels Rapide Lather Catcher razor with a Gem Blue Star CS SE blade and ended up with a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse, I finished off with Dove Men+Care Post Shave Balm. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...
