Great shave and report, Joseph! In my experience, my straight razor shaves last longer than my DE shaves. However, when I use a DE razor one day after a straight, then the shave lasts almost as long as if I used a straight.

That was the only reason for wetting it down - make it settle and lock in the OS mug. Depending on the current owners opinion, I might have options on another vintage puck of Colgate. If I get it, I'm going to process the whole batch and ass Shulton Old Spice AS in an attempt to bring scent to my lather. It's certainly a worthy soap, but lacking and flavor of it's own. Reminds me of the story about the pirate captain and his red shirt. Heard that one? After performing a daring raid and almost getting away, the crew knew they were being perused by the authorities. Since their ship was loaded with ill gotten gains and setting low in the water, they couldn't make a clean get away. As the avenging government boat was getting closer the captain called his cabin boy to bring his red shirt. New to the job, the cabin boy asked why he wanted that particular piece of clothing. "So if I am wounded in battle, the crew won't know and they will continue to fight!" Just then another two government ships came into view joining the pursuit. The pirate ships capture was nearly assured and imminent. The captain called to his cabin boy again, "While you're looking for that shirt, bring me my brown pants!"
