Well, well, well. Sometimes timing and luck work out. I was outside working on some signage on my van and noticed the mail lady had arrived at my front door. She had a package from the Motherland that she was about to take back to the P.O. but I got my hands on it. Just in time for the final two shaves of Arko ADJUSTABLE April - The Russian Ideal adjustable I ordered a couple of weeks ago arrived. Alexander sent a tuck of Sputnik blades as an extra gift so I have a new toy to play with for the next two nights.

My first impression of this razor pre-shave............it's Russian. He listed it as made in 2002. It looks and feels more like 1982 in quality and engineering, or lack thereof. Similar to the Consul in design - not so similar in feel and quality, or so it seems. Notice on the third picture - the number "3" on the dial is properly set in the metal ring - but someone painted a "5" on top of it, giving me an extra "5" on the dial. Yep......there's that Russian QC we're talking about! Should be fun to try out later tonight!

Funny, but you’re not the first person whose ever told me this, Danny.

I’d like to think I’m just taking redneck to the next level, brother!

 

You must be a jet-set redneck, like me.

 

I worked on the little Star lather catcher when I got home. I bought the razor for parts because I needed the blade tension spring another razor. Before pictures below. When I got home I ran it through the ultrasonic cleaner, straightened it out and polished it up. It turned out so nice that is not a parts razor anymoreand I made a walnut handle for it. Now I just need to figure out a wedge to go behind the SE blade. The razor with the metal handle is the one I need a spring for.

I think Frugal Shave on Etsy has a 3d printed wedge adapter. It you could just make a shim it if a couple of used Injector blades. Looks great BTW!
