Monday morning April 29 - Arko Adjustable April and Menthol Monday Delta Echo refurbished Gillette Slim on 4 / Rapira Swedish Supersteel (2) Semogue Owners Club cherrywood reknotted with APShaveCo Tuxedo knot Arko stick Alum and Osage Rub and Florida Water Did my last shave with my last Rapira Swedish Supersteel blade today. I think of my three Gillette adjustable razors, I would rank the Black Beauty as my favourite, then the Fatboy, and the Slim as my least favourite. Still a good razor though. The SOC Tuxedo whipped up a great lather and then the razor went to town. Two passes to an excellent DFS. The Osage Rub provided an eyewatering finish for Menthol Monday, followed by a healthy splash of Florida Water. I left the house to run my morning errands both looking and smelling good! Hope everyone is off to the start of a great week!
April 29 Good evening fellas! I believe this will be my last shave of the month. What better way to end this month with my trusty Dovo shavette! Ok, this is shavette shave #58 and total straight shave #126. I decided to bring out my Semogue OC badger and use it to face lather the Stirling Coconut Lime. The scent is strong, but not overpowering. It is a nice clean scent. Two passes and touchups gave me an IBSS+ with a weeper that disappeared on its own as I continued with subsequent passes. There wasn't any irritation. The Personna hairshaper is not as sharp and that is why I didn't wait for the BBS train. As I have gotten more experience with straight shaving, I have modified my goals to stop chasing the baby every shave, especially when DE blades are starting to lose their edge. Applied some witch hazel and then the Stirling Coconut Lime AS. It was a nice shave to end the month. During the month of May, I decided to focus on just doing straight shaving because I want to reach 100 shavette shaves and 100 traditional straight razor shaves as quickly as possible. At the present, I need 42 shavette shaves and 32 traditional straight razor shaves for a total of 74. So, the first half of May will be strictly shavette shaves because I am 10 behind trad. straight razor shaves. Grade 95 = A Have a great evening, guys!
Thanks, Danny! I just giggle at the Dovo shavette naysayers! Although I am Brooklyn born (borough of NYC), I give them the Bronx cheer or raspberry (Bronx is another borough of NYC) . The Bronx cheer or giving the raspberry is when you stick your tongue out while simultaneously blowing air to make a fart sound. Sorry that I am so detailed, but some of you are not from this area and don't know the NY colloquialisms.
I did not know what a Bronx cheer was but we know what a raspberry is down here. The Dovo shavette is a great shavette and I do not understand why it doesn't get more love. Take care.
That's why I like to converse with different people because we learn different things from each other. Now, I am glad that I was able to share the meaning of a Bronx cheer. However, I am expecting to learn a local colloquialism from you Southern gentleman because I would be clueless. I know the syrupy and sarcastic bless your heart phrase! Lol!
I'll give you one tonight. "I'll be John Brown!" That is when a Southern person messes up and pretty much cusses their own self.
I thank you! I have heard of John Brown, who was an abolitionist, but would never think his name would be used in such a manner. However, if I used it down there with my NY accent, then I think the people down there would think that I was making fun of them so I wouldn't use that phrase.
