    Eufros~~Declaration Grooming B5~~Ralf Aust~~Aramis
    SR #72

While wielding this type of razor has been defined as "mayhem" by yours truly, it does go to prove
that anyone can get used to almost anything with enough practice.

Regarding the Ralf Aust...I hereby completely distance myself from my previously posted
    poor performance elucidations.

The razor is, despite the loose pins, a more-than-servicable tool with which to remove facial hair.
    Today was a case-in-point.
With a cushion of the rosy, creamy, shiny Eufros as a base,
    the Aust made short work
    of the 24 hour growth.
No nicks, cuts, irritation, sassy talk, but rather a not-quite, buttery-smooth shave.
    A "No-Nonsense" affair.
Nice finish with the Aramis. This scent pairs well with many soaps.
Classic scent for a classy guy.
Smells good on me, too.

  5. May 2

Whew! MAYhem is off to to a flying start, and I'm already in catch up mode.

Busy day yesterday packing, meeting with our builder and the buyer of our house. Our new place is being cleaned tomorrow, and there are just a few loose ends inside to complete. Final grading is underway, and the builder is looking for a window of dry weather to pour some concrete. We are now working through the logistics of moving. It's coming together and keeping this retired old man busy.

I shaved left-handed, of course, yesterday morning with the Mongoose loaded with a new Feather Super Pro blade. As usual, the C.O. Bigelow lather was exceptional, and the shave was close. The razor is heavy, so I really have to focus on "no pressure" to avoid nicks. Every time I hurry, as I have the past couple of weeks, I see a few red spots.

I skipped today's shave. We have some errands, and then it's back to packing. It's times like these when I ponder the benefits of being a minimalist. ;)

    Have a great day, gents!

    May 2 SOTD:

    Razor: Gillette Red Tip
    Blade: Feather Hi-Stainless
    Brush: Ever-Ready 150
    Lather: La Toja Shave Stick
    Aftershave: Adidas Dynamic Pulse
    Additional Care:
    Stirling Unscented PSB

Back to normal this morning! I am definitely not up for a stunt shave at the locker room, so the red tip got the call, and as always it was two easy passes. The La Toja is a great shave stick, so that worked well too. I am off to work to get things lined up, then to Houston for a meeting. I hope everyone has a great day!

  10. May 2nd
    Razor: Gillette New LC
    Blade: Gillette Silver Blue (3)
    Brush: PAA Green Ray
    Pre-shave: Stirling Mentholated
    Soap: Stirling Glacial Satsuma
    Stirling Orange Chill witch hazel
    PAA Star Jelly unscented
    AS: Stirling Satsuma

    Good morning!

Excellent shave to start the day! Three passes with quick touch up. Near BBS with the slightest tickle from the alum.

Glacial Satsuma arrived yesterday and was pressed into service this morning. What a wonderful face freeze! My second use soap focus took a step backwards. I was down to two with a single use, now up to three.

Today is the start of a long weekend! I worked a lot of hours in April and I'm really going to enjoy the time off. Hopefully no more 84 hour work weeks for awhile.

    Have a great day!

  16. I have a couple of 3/4 diameter aluminum handles that I made and I do not mind the diameter but the handles are not that heavy. Baby Huey has got to be a heavy boy.
  17. It's not solid, so not as heavy as it looks there. Still, just not my preference.

  20. SOTD:
A beautiful shave this morning using the aristocrat and the South African Reitzer, definitely one of my all time favourite soaps. This stuff lathers like an absolute bomb and is so well priced and has such great performance that I'd go as far as to call it the South African Arko!

Today's shave was shave number 30 on the feather hi-stainless, an absolute milestone for me. Previously my most shaves out of a blade was 15, and this was achieved with a gillette 7 o clock sharp edge.

Even on shave 30 there was little to no tugging, although buffing is required and touch ups after the third pass.

Overall a great shave, which i ended off with Dave's fantastic menthol aftershave!

Razor: gillette aristocrat barber-pole handle 1948
    Blade: feather hi-stainless (30)
    Soap: reitzers perfect shave
    Brush: dischem synthetic
    Aftershave Balm: aquaeous cream
    Aftershave: Dave's menthol aftershave.[IMG]
