Autostrop B1 with a modified CVS carbon steel blade nonstropped, shave 1. Shave was total garbage. I don't know if it was the blade, the modification since I opened up the tabs so the blade could lock in correctly or the razor itself. I have more stubble on my face than before I shaved today. I doubt the blade is spent and opening up the tab holes shouldn't have changed the exposure that much. After the 1st pass this razor was like shaving with a paint scrapper. Lot of audible feedback with little to no cutting going on. First test tomorrow is open up the guard a bit to make the razor more aggressive. Next test is to throw in a fresh Feather FAS-10 and finally throw a fresh CVS blade into a Gem MMOC and see what happens.
When I got back I decided to shave again today. First I opened up the Autostrop to see if that would help. After 1 pass I knew that this would be a complete waste of time with this blade so I threw the blade into the Gem MMOC. It did get the stubble down but I am still stubbly so for sure it is this blade that is the problem. I know this MMOC is a good shaver so the next pass is to put a fresh CVS carbon steel blade into the MMOC and see if it gives the results it should. If it does I somehow dulled the edge on this blade when I modified it, if the shave still sucks it is these blades (at least this batch anyways) period. I might put in a third shave later tonight to test this for sure instead of waiting until tomorrow.

Thur 2nd May RazoRock Syn 24mm L`Occitane Cade soap ER 1924 + Windrose Handle Gem S/S [ 4 ] Jaguar Prestige A/S Lotion This Razor may look a little careworn but when teamed up with this longer handle it is a delight use. Was one of those days when everything was good, superb lather really helped the Shave go well very - smooth and comfortable with the Razor being so easy to manoeuvre that one could not fail to get anything but a top notch finish.

Fri 3rd May Cyril Salter / Maseto ED. 2Band Lea Classic soap Gem Micromatic Gem S/S [ 4 ] Lea Classic A/S Lotion Having learnt my lesson earlier in the the Week, I was mindful not to rush this Shave, especially with the OC version. I may have taken a bit more time than usual , but well worth as the finish qualities excellent, and no problems during or post Shave. It seems a long time ago that I needed to apply Alum after a Shave.

Schick G4 razor Schick blade FS Silver Tip brush Fume Shave Soap Osage Rub/Witch Hazel w/aloe Daxton A/S Mighty fine Friday shave. I like the Fume Shave Soap from Turkey. I've been told it's no longer available. That's to bad cuz it works well for me. At any rate, my face is happy. Now go enjoy your day folks.

I missed a day shaving so today I put the a fresh CVS carbon steel blade in the micromatic open comb. Nothing wrong with the blades. These are really good blades and I can see just why people have problems with these razors when starting out. It is the same type of learning curving going from carts to DE as from DE to SE. Angle and pressure. Once those are dialed in the shaves are almost effortless. These micromatics now that I know how to use them properly are a better shave than almost any DE I can think of. These razors convinced me it is time to offload almost all my DE razors. As far as the autostrop razors goes looks like the best way to proceed is to put in a few shaves with a blade made for them first to see what is going on then put in an equivalent modified gem blade and see if I can reproduce the shave results.
