May 4th Razor: Timeless Bronze OC Blade: Astra SP (1) Brush: WWB Limedrop/ TDR Fanchurian Pre-shave: Stirling Mentholated Soap: Palmolive shave stick Stirling mentholated witch hazel PAA Star Jelly unscented AS: Proraso Good morning! Terrific first outing with the Timeless Bronze OC! Three passes with some baby chasing under the chin, near BBS result. I did get some heat from the alum under my chin from the extra j-hooking, my fault. Second use soap focus nearly at an end, for now. One single use soap left but I have a couple new soaps en route. I also have some WSP Formula T samples I have yet to try. Too many soaps, not enough whiskers. Have a great weekend! Sent from my SM-G965U using Tapatalk
Great blades that easily last for 7 shaves each. I just finished shave number 3 on a Feather Super Pro last night. I like them so well that I have enough to last me for 8.5 years of shaves...seriously...but who's counting? I have a few Super Pro's, but most of mine are the Feather Professional blades.
Mayhem Focus I Coloniali~~Rubberset 400/3~~Dovo 5/8~~Cigar Aficionado SR #74 I think the biggest challenge of straight razor shaving is finding and/or creating flat surfaces. I see now why the pivoting razor head was invented. Makes complete sense, but goes against the grain (pun intended) of the straight shaver (and the DE/SE shaver). I Coloniali is such a complex soap. The base creates a very slick and aromatic lather, with just enough menthol to let you know it's there. When this first came out, I resisted, because of the "mango" base. I do not care for fruity soaps but there is no mango whatsoever in this soap, as far as scent goes. Luckily, I was able to score a refill at the old price, before it was discontinued, so I am good for quite a while. This soap is as hard as any soap I have ever owned. Should last for many years. The Rubberset is still fun to use. The Omega knot continues to impress and gets more pleasant to use with each shave. You can see the split hairs in the picture. I linen-stropped the Dovo with some CrOx, followed by the Slavin strop. Good results. Good edge, with no dragging. The Cigar Aficionado AS is a real cheap juice, but the scent is appealing and once again I have the SWMBOSOA. I am on a winning streak.
May 4, 2019 Gem Damaskeene OC Gem PTFE Elite Desert Ironwood with Envy White Proraso Cypress & Vetyver Guerlain Vetiver EdT Back to the Gem Damaskeeene OC for the weekend. This little razor is such a smooth shaver and a pleasure to use. Three passes and touch ups ended in a near perfect shave. I let the baby escape on my lower right neck. I hope everyone has a great Saturday.
Another excellent photo and report Joseph. Congrats on the winning streak gaining the wife's approval on scents.
Thanks, Clint! I just bought the OC baseplate although I did seriously consider buying the complete razor. Sent from my SM-T800 using Tapatalk
That's right you did have the Timeless brass razor. I broke down and decided to reward myself with finishing another tax season with a new razor. Hopefully it will arrive in the next two weeks or so.
Ooh! The suspense! Are you going to tell us or do we have to wait for it to appear in one of your SOTD pics? Sent from my SM-T800 using Tapatalk
I decided to buy the complete set, Closed Comb, OC and stand of the the Tatara Masamune in the matte silver finish. I will likely get the upcoming 0.90mm blade gap closed comb base plate when it is available.
I am excited to see the razor. The OC plate is very similar in blade gap to my favorite Wolfman OC so I am hopeful that I will like the razor.
