  3. After I arrived home last night we made an impromptu decision to go out a 2nd night to eat since the 1st night was so enjoyable. Did a quick shave with the Rockwell 6c on my sunburned head ( cant believe we are getting nice sun again) and face . Used the TOBS sandalwood again , Rapira blade, Muhle brush and a splash of Hugo Boss cologne. Since time was of the essence I didnt take a pic . My next shave won't be as casual. To MAYhem!
  4. It's been a joy to watch! All razors are more fun when one has the skills in place to make them perform.
  5. This should be etched in stone.

Not only superfluous, but unnecessary as well.

    ;)

Or lard, if the smoky smell is off-putting.

I'm starting to think that the conventional wisdom on newbie blades is backward. Less sharp blades may feed the desire for pressure that carts instill over time. This is a disaster for newbies who don't yet understand the ultimate importance of angle and pressure. It leads to a collection of aftershave balm and a rotation of mediocre shaves.

Hide the knives and have a nice visit!

Razor: Canadian Thick Cap OT/Durham DuBarry Handle
    Blade: X3 Gillette Spoiler (6)
    Brush: Razorock Plissoft 22
    Soap: Mystery Soap
    Post: Alum, Listerine, WH

On Friday, I received the Durham handle as a generous PIF from @billdog2 and was curious to try it out. The Canadian OT was as good a choice as any. As or the blade, I'm a bit curious to push the limits of the Spoiler so today was outing #6.

On the whole, it was a good combo, smooth and efficient. I had a bit of noise from the alum which I'll blame on some overzealousness on my part. As for the Spoiler, it still seems to be going strong. At times, it seems like we must have been really naive or unskilled back in the 70s to have thought that we needed "better" solutions. It may be that I don't ask a lot of my blades, but I don't see a need to swap out this Spoiler yet.
