  8. Thanks, Jim. When I explained my plan for this Mayhem shave, Mrs. Gulch wanted to be there for me. Her type of support includes laughing at me, letting me know that if I need to go to the emergency room I could drove them myself there, in the car with the manual transmission, and I wouldn’t be allowed to take the razor off my finger before I left. She enjoyed watching it, but said if I need to raise the Mayhem bar after this one, maybe find a nurse to be on call...
  9. Thank you, Clint!

    Proraso PreShave
    Cella SC
    Zenith Boar
    J. A. Henkels Friodur
    Proraso AS Sandalwood

Bought this back in February. First shave with it. Went very well, 2.5 pass CCS only using this straight. Starting to get a little more confident about both N-S and S-N passes with open blades, so I did 1 extra pass WTG on my neck. No weepers at all today.

As usual, the boar and Cella made extremely great lather to swipe off. Cella is one of the easiest lathering creams for me. It fills and swells the boar in 15-20 seconds. Proraso Sandalwood AS...what to say, it's near perfection to my nose, and wifey loves it.

The Henkels didn't come without issues. The scales were warped, and it just drug across arm hair. Used a couple of scales straightening techniques found over in the SR forum area. Scales still aren't perfect, but good enough, and centered so there's no issues when closing. They are a bit loose in the last part of the closing arc, so had to use a cap to hold the blade in position for its maiden portrait. Previous owner(s) did hone this razor without taping. It isn't bad, but I am learning to hone so I taped it. Took about an hour of honing last night to get it shaving due to the extra bit of angle to work down the edge (or it really needed a good bevel set). Progressed it through 1k/4k/8k and finally a 12k. After all that, made 100 laps on a (delivered yesterday :bounce015: ) Bison Ezra Arthur strop and the Henkels is now very nice.

Hope everyone has a Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious Tuesday!

RazoRock 400 Noir Plissoft Synthetic Shaving Brush
    Timeless Lather Bowl
Murphy & McNeil – Crann Bethadh
    Astra SP Blade
    Gillette Red Tip – C2, 1957 - Second Quarter
    Nivea Post Balm
    Pinuad Clubman Classic

After shaving with the Red Tip, I now know why these razors have the following that they do. It is just a good solid shaver that gets the job done. I was really impressed with the first shave and I can see future shaves getting better. I did get a little bit of a tickle from the alum this moring.

The disappointing aspect of the shave was my Murphy and McNeil soap. The performance was on par and did not disappoint but the soap has turned soft in the container. I opened it up to load the dampened brush and when I went to load it was like trying to load Elmer’s School Glue. I do not bloom my soaps and I have not added water to the top of this soap. I only load my soap with a dampened brush. This soap now has the consistency of a cream. :angry019:

Finish up with a little Nivea and Clubman Classic.

Y'all take care and have a great day!
