Yours is from the "Roaring 20's"... Around late '29, production of the 1912 was switched over to Ever Ready so GEM could concentrate exclusively on the Micromatic. And the GEM Brookland markings started after 1919....early '20's...That handle too is '20's... Could have been F. Scott Fitzgerald's razor, for getting spruced up to take Zilda out on the town, and hanging with Cole and Linda Porter and Ernest Hemingway... I doubt it was Papa's....he would have looked alot cleaner shaved in photos if it had been his.. Sent from my SM-N950U using Tapatalk
Wed 8th May Simpson Chubby 1 /Maggards 2 Band Williams Mug soap PAA Starling V2- OC Gem S/S [ 6 ] Williams Aqua Velva A/S Lotion My first use of the Starling with the OC plate, and with a blade units 6th outing not quite sure to expect. Compared to most vintage SEs . it feels quite harsh during the initial stages of the Shave but is also efficient. One has to keep a good lather going all the time, and provided that you use the lightest of touches, a good close all round finish can be obtained. I cannot imagine it working for me with the original handle, and my initial thoughts are that the OC plate is superior tho the Straight Bar.

Going back to basics still. Using the same gear for an entire week. This week, I get to use the GBar! Great 3 pass DFS+.
That's a tricky one, because it has a prettier younger sister (the Flying Wing) but it is my favourite MM. Here are my Ultimates i.e. lookers and shavers: Please excuse the pic, it's evening and I had to use the flash.
Autostrop B1 with a Feather stainless steel FHS-10 blade, shave 5. Same as 4 except I j-hooked under the jawline. The blade feels like it is done but in reality it is anything but.

I would buy that soap just for the container. In fact I will, as soon as I can find it. Is it a discontinued scent? My top three pushers don't list it currently. C
No the scent is just released and part of their Pin Up Series. So far the pin up series is only available to Club Members from their website https://shavingshopclub.com
Thur 9th May RazoRock Plissoft 22mm De Vergulde Hand Alu. General + S/S Handle Schick Proline [ 2 ] Jaguar Prestige A/S Lotion After the harshness of the Shave with a Starling this one just seems ultra smooth. I had almost forgotten what a good Lather this Dutch Propriety brand yields, shame it no longer appears to be sold in UK. But then I expect it cannot compete with the vast range of artisan soaps on the the scene, with striking containers and promise of wonderful scents.
Tabac Thursday's Shave Cold Water Rinse Tabac The Brush B-3 by Tom Starling SE Gem Blue Star CS CWR Tabac AS My prep was just a cold water rinse. The Tabac Shave Soap face lathered well with The Brush B-3 by Tom. I did two passes with the Starling SE razor with a Gem Blue Star CS SE blade and ended up with a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse, I finished off with Tabac AS. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...
