  3. I have the same feeling most anywhere between nose/mouth, chin, and middle 1/3 of my neck. Sometimes with either the shavette or a straight, the blade just skips or won't move as it lands. The whole movement feels as it 'digs in' while trying to start a stroke with movement during landing. I'm sure some of this is my bad technique as I'm learning open blades :o ! Had a similar issue when moving from any Gillette DE to the Blackland Dart (landing bleeders).

It's like the open blade hit a fire hydrant....pushing it only makes me think of a blood letting with Clint's potato peeler :lyrtuy5: the first time I ever decide to try one. JJ!...I REALLY like the way the O.R.E.N. looks, must resist R.A.D. (Oh....:signs136:...opens DDG search.....types in O.R.E.N. razor....Wah??? Feather shavette blades work with the O.R.E.N.? hmm...that's not too out of next month's budget:sad027:...maybe I deserve it....sanity kick, close browser window just opened).....R.A.D. squashed, get back to work.....I'll just get another color towel for my 30DC posts....:happy097:

  8. March 8
    Good Morning, guys!
    Dovo Shavette shave #64
    Voshkhod blade (4th shave)
    Rockwell Synthetic Brush
    Moon Soap Havana
    Clubman AS
    Modessa Witch Hazel
    Clubman Styptic Pencil
Face-lathered with Rocky to produce a decent lather. The scent is really nice, but is somewhat toned down because it has never been covered since it was piffed to me. The blade is losing itd sharpness because I had to do 3 passes with touchups and cut my cheek in the process. It might be that my previous olive oil shave impacted the Teflon coating or it may have been my lather was not as thick as usual to provide better protection. I read that you should throw out the blade when you use olive oil to shave, however, I hate throwing out a blade after 3 shaves. I had to use the styptic pencil and the Witch Hazel to take care of the cut. All is well on that front! The shave was IBSS and that's fine with me today! I know that I have been doing plenty of shavette shaving, but I am trying to match my 68 traditional straight razor shaves so that I can evenly alternate from one to the other on my way to 100/100. At one point it was very lopsided because I had a 46:64 ratio which was an 18 shave difference. At 64:68, I am within 4 to tie. Ok, enough of my rambling, I see the eyes rolling! Lol!
    Result: Grade 93 = A-
    Have a great day, guys! 20190508_122545.jpg 20190508_122545.jpg

  16. Great shave and pic, Joseph. As far as the soap, it probably wasn't a great seller and thus, Rod decided to discontinue it.

  19. Very informative. Great job with the blades. I love the Baker Street, still looking to give vintage Brut a go.
Very nice looking shave, Jim. Good luck shopping for SWMBO today!
Great job again! Those are some very unique MAYhem tools.
Rick? Slick? Stable? Buttercream? Williams? That should win an award for something, Jim...
Beautiful, Clint. I like those TGN Finest knots as well.
I believe you just answered your own question, Joseph.:)
That's really anyone needs to know about May. I hope no one tops that...
Yes, a very thin line indeed. Trolling and Enabling is a virtual line at best. As is the line between MAYhem and sanity.
Very nice, Joe. Sorry about the cut.
  20. Thanks Joe. I've got 95% of my shave gear packed, so I'll be sticking with this set up for awhile. It's all in one spot for the first time ever. I hope all is well with you, my friend.
