  1. I think he was going up the creek w/o a paddle with that soap so I don't think that would be a good rebranding.

  7. I'd call it something like Endless Summer, Carpe Diem, Ohana, Andiamo, or maybe even Destiny. With the fancy name and once you strain out the granules, you should be able to double the price. ;)

  8. Thank you very much! Also a big Thank You for everyone's replies and encouragement. It absolutely keeps this fun (besides all the ADs).

Couple quick tidbits I've been working through, but not always putting in my dailies & don't remember mentioning. I'm rarely a BBS chaser, DFS is awesome, CCS is great. Maybe my DFS is close to a BBS (cheeks), but I can always feel 'something', so never report it as BBS. Straight razor using both hands. Been trying left hand/left side every day. Really unnatural feel for me, I can do it, just don't like it. Depth perception looking in a mirror makes me think I'll lop an earlobe one day. Right hand/right side...works OK. Either left hand or right hand, I'll flip the razor where the handle can be on either side....so something like left side of face, left hand, handle on either left or right side as I'm shaving (front or back side of blade, IOW). My straight razor shaves do take time....today's was shortest to date, ~15 minutes+ for all 3 passes start to finish.

ATG shaving for me....don't know. WTG, XTG....no big deal. Hair on my neck grows nearly horizontal left to right. Face, mostly north to south. IMO, I don't have sensitive skin.....it's that I have 2000 year old Sequoia stumps for hair shafts in most places (everywhere.....um, yeah....everywhere). Think Grizzly Adams, which isn't too far fetched when comparing hair, if I let facial hair grow (head hair is also similar but 3-4x longer). DE, shavette....ATG is irritating every time I try, and more so on the neck. ATG isn't needed for my face to achieve the smooth I want. About the only way ATG on my neck is bearable, is with 1/4" buffing strokes using my milder DEs, smoothest blades and lots of skin stretching. I'll try ATG with straights.....sometime in late 2020 ;).

  9. @Trigger - Joe

I find that Voskhod is good for 5-7 shaves, assuming low attack angles. It seems in my observations that milder (large cap radius) razors also dull blades faster due to the angle window. Your test and judgement may be invalid due to the oil treatment, but props for the Olive shave.

  10. Awesome shave Gary!
The first gen Wunderbar that I have is one of the more shave razors in my den. But when you let it do the heavy lifting it does a fantastic job!
    Very nice Jason!
So how many of those blades did you get your hands on?
Good plan of the mothers day gift Jim, and nice shave!
    Wowsers, deserving of the nominations!
Beautiful shot Jim! Stable buttercream? With Williams? And our hard water? Good job!
    Great shave Matthew!
Beautiful shot Clint, love the looks of that Rover!
Good stuff Joseph! I was looking at some butterscotch Paladins just the other day.
    Another great shave Jason!
    Wonderful report Charlie!
    You're progressing rather quickly Blair!
    Awesome setup Joe!
every time I see that "Smells like" I say "teen spirit" in my head. Looking forward to the report on the Rockwell blade!

  11. Your progress seems pretty normal and up to speed! Glad you are enjoying it. About ATG... I don't do it every day. WTG/XTG is good enough for weekdays, and saves wear and tear on skin. When attempting ATG, skin stretches become critical. All of my worst bloodlettings have been ATG with an open blade. But, as @Keithmax knows, chicks dig scars. Me, I just say that scars are tattoos for the brave. Carry on and have fun!

    Stirling Mentholated Pre-Shave Soap
    EDRIO #59 RazoRock Baby Smooth
    Gillette Wilkinson Sword (2)
Yaqi Moka Express (26mm, Frigate Class)
    Viking Blades Langham Spa
    Aqua Velva Ice Sport

Continuing with EDRIO, today I chose the RazoRock Baby Smooth. This razor, as the name implies, is a super smooth shaver. Hardly any blade feel. But the secret sauce is in the head geometry. It has a very curved head and presents the blade in a way that forces a very shallow angle. I could do ten passes with this razor and not experience any irritation. Luckily after three passes I was near BBS. I finished if with a generous splash of AV Ice Sport which is taking on some of the characteristics of the Avon Wild Country as that was previously in the decanter that I have it in. Have a great day my friends!

    Hump day!
