Very well could be the difference. I installed the water softener shortly after moving in to this house. Hard water spots on everything and the shampoo wouldn't lather. It was pretty bad.

Thanks for your imput, Chris! However, the viscosity of the olive oil is much higher than the soaps, therefore, the drag coefficient of the oil is higher and may or may not dull the blade more quickly. As I mentioned earlier, I will use the blade on its 5th shave and see where I am at. It could be that I added to much oil that affected the blade performance or the blade is on its downward trend based on your experience. The other variable is the differences in our stubble/beard and technique that will influence blade life. The only way that I am going to get answers is to use a new blade and count the number of shaves without using olive oil and see if I get more shaves.

Thanks Andrew! In my experience, the Rockwell is a mild to intermediate blade. I have used it in all of my razors except my Fatboys and they give a great shave. However, I always keep my adjustable razors at the highest setting. I have shaved my head with this blade and never had a problem getting a BBS shave.

:signs011: To go ATG on my chin and for the fools pass I use both hands. I also have tough hair especially my chin and upper lip. That is why I like my blades to be very sharp and I prefer heavy grinds. I also need to find just the right angle to get my chin and upper lip.

I know of this place that has 1000's. Not sure why.
After I use them, I head back to this place and cut or scrape something to make sure they are worthy of a trip to the sharps disposal. In case anyone counts the number will be high from my other used blades.
They got cases of the .009 Gems too.
