Autostrop VC1 with a modified Gem stainless steel ptfe blade, shave 1.
    vc1n.jpg

Now that I got my replacement VC1 loaded with a fresh blade I wanted to see just how much the shave differed from the B and C models that can take a modified gem blade. As you can from the side view the angle on both are very different and as such you need to use a completely different shave angle on the VC1 from the B1. Best angle I found so far was almost flat and ride the side of the blade. Verdict one of the mildest shaves I've had ever. This razor unless it is fubar'd makes a Gillette Blue Tip seem aggressive. 5 passes and a j-hook finish and the shave is on par with something like a Gillette 3pc Tech. Least close shave I've gotten with an SE. I am going to jump back and forth between the B1 and VC1 to see just how much they differ.

Autostrop B1 with a modified Gem stainless steel ptfe blade, shave 3.

I did something I normally don't do and that was shave twice in the same day. That other shave with the VC1 just was not cutting it. Shave was the same as the other passes using this razor. The VC1 is just too damn mild for my liking and will not be soldiering on. The A1 is up next to switch back and forth to compare with this razor instead.

I doubt seriously that you will be needing to shave twice with the A1....unless you have a beard like Chuck Norris' on Steroids!

    Excellent question.
    First off...I've never met a Schick I didn't love...

    Favorites in no perticular order:
C3 repeater....too cool for school..one of my top 5 razors PERIOD!
E2 the quintessential injector...And your Black handle E2 is one I have ALWAYS wanted...My Dad had one during WW2. He had a couple of Navy issues and that Black handle. He used the others for trading foder. like for cigarettes or playing Poker.BUT he kept that black handled one and brought it home as his razor til 1958 when the I2s came out...
    F ...work of Art Shaver
G...I love a simple, nothing special razor that always delivers the shaves
H...the Hussy!!! A legend round here for good reason.
I2...Hydrozilla, my Highlander razor...If "there could be only one"....There are many reasons on many levels. I'll give it, it's own post, but suffice it to say...That's the one razor I would never want to be without!
K...same as J but prettier!!...a perfect injector for those looking for "mild" shavers, but efficient.
L...with a twin, as good as it gets..
    M...my favorite adjustable razor...

I haven't tried the Schicks after that.

That Black handle E2 is my Holy Grail razor now!!

More on this later...this is a very good topic for discussion!!

    What are your favorites??

Wow you do like your Schicks.
    I've only tried the E2 & 3, the I1 and L.
I will have to put a twin blade in the L because with a single it's far too mild for me.
My E2 was a complimentary razor from James McLean, a now defunct Glaswegian bookie.
It was gifted to me by a friend who rarely used it.
    Good luck in your search.

    King Cobra / Kalyon handle
    Schick Proline [ 2 ]
    Lea Classic A/S lotion

This was probably the most assured Shave that I have had with the King Cobra since getting it,it does feel quite big. In fact a rather pleasant Shave for a Monday morning , and a quite a satisfying close all round Shave was attained.

    Cold Water Rinse
    C.O. Bigelow Shaving Cream
    Bunny B-400 by Tom
    Bunny V3
    Personna Injector
    CWR
    Osage Rub

My prep was just a cold water rinse. The C.O. Bigelow Shaving Cream face lathered well with the Bunny B-400 by Tom. I did two passes with the Bunny V3 razor with a Personna Injector blade and ended up with a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse, I finished off with Osage Rub. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

Enders/Proline vs. Shake Sharp/twin BIC. Shake Sharp is smoother but the Enders-Proline simply cuts closer and with less effort. IMG_20190513_083208-01.jpg

Autostrop A1 with a modified Gem stainless steel ptfe blade, shave 2.

In for the benched VC1 due to poor performance out on the field. I am glad I did, this razor is up there with the best SE razors I've used thus far, it definitely will give a Micromatic open comb or any SE you can think of a run for it's money. Almost a perfect BBS shave with just a hint of stubble on one side of my jawline. I think I shall finish this blade out on this razor and swap the blade out of the B1 into the VB1 to see if they shave differently or if they are only aesthetically different.

Does an SE blade last longer or shorter than a DE? I've been changing DE blades every 5 or 6 shaves. I'm curious on SE lifespan before I get started
